That the illustrations are paramount is evident in the choices of font colors, which tend to be darkish shades, and at times can be a trifle difficult to read. You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot! however, although i love it when a book keeps to a theme the theme continued to the writing which made it difficult to read (dark font on dark background).

In the story, a fisherman's daughter worries he won't be able to find his way home when the moon disappears, so the sun helps her to make the stars to guide him home. The Fisherman's Daughter loved to dance in the Sunlight, and bathe in the glow of the Moon, but when the moon would disappear for a few nights each month, she would worry about her father and how he would find his way home from sea in the deep darkness. Since the main idea in most folklore pieces is clear and focused, this could be used in a grade like third grade when they are just beginning to refine their comprehension strategies.Mistry's style so perfectly lends itself to this (original, I believe) fable about how a young girl placed stars in the heavens as way to help guide her fisherman father home on moonless nights. Each page is rich with detail and there are some amazing spreads, my favourite, one with all the animal shapes in the stars she has placed. When the sun finds her sobbing one night, he takes one of his rays and shatters it onto the ground, creating the stars and giving the girl the task of putting them into the dark night sky. The story is that a girl is afraid for her father, a fisherman, finding his way home when the moon does not shine any light down during its new moon phase. In this story, the sun sends down a ray of light that shatters, and the daughter is told to place them in the sky to provide light for her father.

You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods.There was just the right amount of choice to suit everyone without being overwhelming and I received comments from parents and staff about the quality of books offered compared to previous sales which have always been based around current crazes and well known celebrity authors. Is it possible he can help a weary Monkey, or might he interfere and thereafter smudge the work across the sky? I don't normally count Children's books in my totals for the year, but I am this time because the illustrations are so incredibly breathtaking.
