This book is quite informative and it is really cool that these men were able to expose themselves and to hear their honesty about their feelings and their lives. It is neat to see the changing of old patriarchic thought patterns to something that is more supportive towards themselves and women.

When you talk to women about their vulvas, so many stories come up. I felt like I learnt new routes. A lot of the stories that came out were actually very difficult. It was things like traumatic birth, bad sexual experiences or even something innocent like starting your period for the first time.WARNING: This review does contain pictures of penises. But outside of the context of our sexual partners or porn, we don’t actually get to have a proper look at them, in all their glorious variety. It took two years to find and photograph 100 women for this photographic categorisation of the female breast. They were aged 19 to 101, and from all walks of life, from Buddhist nun to burlesque dancer. The artwork illustrated a book entitled ‘Bare Reality’, now in its second edition. Each photograph is accompanied short first person stories which offer, en masse, a striking counter-narrative to the objectification of the female body. Across the course of a year, Laura took photos of the 100 vulvas for her book Womanhood: The Bare Reality, and spoke to each person about what their vulva means to them.These and many similar quotes were woven throughout the book. Throughout history, men were supposed to keep their emotions in and just provide for the family. This narrative must change. Not belabor the point, but I’m calling this viewpoint of manhood “traditional” for a reason. How “traditional manhood” impacted men’s health I feel that when men come together and talk we can integrate our emotions and then be true in our actions.”
