The Retro Fighters Defender Next-Gen is easily one of the most impressive wireless controllers we’ve ever seen. While the price tag may strike some as a little high (at least on this list anyway), this is one of the most durable and versatile wireless third-party controllers ever made. While the controller works beautifully with your PlayStation 1, you’ll find that it can be used for the PS2, PS3, and even the PS Classic. Going even further than that, the Retro Fighters Defender Next-Gen can even be used with your PC or Nintendo Switch. This may turn out to be your go-to wireless choice for several consoles.

The PlayStation Move was Sony’s answer to the Nintendo Wii. Well, technically, it was its second answer after the failures of the Sixaxis controller and the motion technology of the same name. It slightly resembled the Nintendo Wii controllers, but it featured a few technological advancements as well as integration with the PlayStation Eye camera. When the PlayStation 3 was unveiled at E3 2005, it was accompanied by a new controller that drew quite a bit of attention both negative and…well, most of it was negative. Despite all the talk the controller attracted, Sony said almost nothing about this “boomerang” design during that E3 presentation. Let's begin at the beginning. The original PlayStation released in North America at the end of 1995, a time when gamers were accustomed to the SNES and the SEGA Genesis. Both machines had decent controllers, with the Super Nintendo's pad in particular a departure from the norm, sporting a D-pad, two shoulder buttons, four face buttons, and two central buttons. It's clear where Sony's initial inspiration came from, then, but it took things a step further for its very first controller.The DualSense looks like it will be a good controller. I dislike the default colour scheme but presumably it will be easy enough to get another pad that ascetically more to my liking. Most of the recoloured versions people PhotoShopped look good.

You will need a keyboard to press Escape on to access the emulator's menu so that you can then configure your controller: a controller with a Home/Guide button that can be a dedicated Open Menu button is required to use this emulator with just a controller.
