Sometimes books about clouds and weather can be very scientific and difficult to understand but The Cloud Book follows a logical progression that is simple to follow, even if this is your first time picking up a book about clouds. I’ve been struggling a lot recently with finding enjoyment in daily life and even just the will to get out of bed every day, but reading this really put so much into perspective for me.

I would definitely recommend this book to others if you want to seek something to motivate you to keep on moving on with your life. After watching the film, I really wanted to read the book to really understand their story and how it really happened.He is also the author of The Cloud Book (2008), Extraordinary Clouds (2009) and Extraordinary Weather (2012). The more that the story focused on the “normal” and stepped away from the extraordinary steps that Zach took I realized how easy it is to idolize people. There’s so much to learn about these shapeshifting things that you might wonder why you’re not already curious about them. Now don’t get me wrong, I would still highly recommend this book especially if you’re interested in learning more about Zach’s story but I think everyone needs to go into this knowing that it’s written in a very “stream of consciousness” style which I wasn’t exactly a fan of. Throughout his thorough discussions of contemporary German media theory, Peters blends in unexpected liter­ary allusions and offers comparisons to American think­ers such as Thoreau or Emerson.Although this may seem to rob media of its specificity and therefore of its theoretical purchase, in Peters’s hands it becomes the occasion for making surprising and insightful connections. Laura Sobiech has lovingly written her son Zach's memoir, Clouds, after losing him in an agonizing battle with cancer. I am not sure that I have laughed and cried at the same time before but I was definitely tearing up and then laughing the next paragraph. Guy Anderson’s inimitable inner English gentleman’s tone had me in stitches as he crashed into the US outback.

As tragic as this book is, it's also inspiring and Laura tells it with a raw authenticity that requires so much strength and bravery. Zach was such an inspiration (and continues to be) for so many in this world, and I'm glad his mom, Laura, wrote this book to be shared with the world. In the end, knowing this is a republication I’m surprised that I finished the book feeling so underwhelmed.

Even though my Four quickly lost patience for books about the weather, he enjoyed the wonderful series of Ready-to-Ready weather books by Marion Dane Bauer. God sends his angels to earth to show us the beauty of life and love and then they go back - Zach was clearly one of these angles. New media do not take us into uncharted waters, but rather confront us with the deepest and oldest questions of society and ecology: how to manage the relations people have with themselves, others, and the natural world. Lost in the Clouds is a heartfelt and sensitively written story about grief and the loss of a parent. I saw the movie first with my mom and loved the story, but after reading the book, the movie is much more disappointing.
