Despite not being explicitly named, the description of the camera's design makes it out to be similar to that of a Polaroid brand camera. Julie describes the evil camera as "a very unusual camera," possibly alluding to The Twilight Zone episode " A Most Unusual Camera". Max and his brother Lefty find a mirror in the attic that can turn its users invisible, but the more Max, Lefty and their friends use it, the harder it becomes to return. Isaiah heads down into the basement and discovers an old polaroid camera that he tests out by taking two pictures, one of Allison and one of Margot. But the pictures don’t develop until a more opportune moment in the plot.

The pranksters Duane and Stephanie love to visit Hill House, a place said to be haunted by a ghost of a young boy who was decapitated by an evil sea captain. One night, they decide to go to the house after it closes to find the boy's head, but actually end up encountering the headless ghost as well as a few other restless spirits. It is important to note that the majority of the themes explored in this book deal with sensitive subject matters. My review, therefore, touches on these topics as well. Many people might find the subject matters of the book as well as those detailed in my review overwhelming. I would suggest you steer clear of both if this is the case. Unlike the previous book, Say Cheese and Die!, which was told in the third person narrative, Say Cheese and Die — Again! is told from Greg's point of view.Despite the bizarre coincidence, Tim Jacobus was not aware of the nightmare from Welcome to Dead House before illustrating this book's cover. Tim would not end up reading a Goosebumps book until a few years down the line. What renders Spidey such a bizarre character in this narrative is the fact that Stine wrote an entity that glimmers along the water’s edge like a ray while simultaneously floating as a crocodile’s body under the surface. Though Spidey is revealed to be a man who used to be a famed scientist, one that is self-proclaimed as being “very evil”, the actions performed by this man teeter on severely dangerous—whereas they are, perhaps, meant to simply be a bit freaky. Should Spidey not have broken into Greg’s room & gone through all his personal belongings in an act that proves to be at once predatory & insane, I might have felt differently. However, the raving delusions of this adult escalate to a scene where he is chasing two (2) of the children down the street & then has them cornered in the basement of the house telling them that they will never be able to leave. A photograph featuring a family of skeletons at a cookout or around a dinner table represents some of the most haunting imagery within Goosebumps and the kind of power these cameras have. While some fans of Goosebumps may fear walking the horrific vampire creature Fifi or spending a day at HorrorLand theme park, the cameras from Say Cheese and Die! remain among the most dangerous items within the series. Varying with each entry in the Say Cheese and Die! stories, it paints a morbid picture of what's to come in 2023's Goosebumps. The episode opens with Greg having a nightmare where a grim reaper-like being takes his picture with the evil camera. This is exclusive to the episode. The book opens with Greg recapping what happened in the previous book for his oral report. While at their grandparents' house at a swamp in Georgia, Gretchen and her stepbrother Clark decide to put their differences aside when they find themselves trapped in the house with a swamp monster. The camera in the original book is described as an ordinary-looking old-fashioned Polaroid camera, except that it was much heavier. In the television version, it has a more futuristic design. It's unknown why it was given a change of appearance, especially since the second DVD release also has the camera look ordinary. Pitts Landing is in fact, the Pitts, or so claim the group of four (4) young friends who find themselves roaming the streets of their town one summer’s day without any idea of what to do with their free time. I feel the biggining episode is an interesting start to the new siries, the teen drama is very accurate to the modern day. But I think there's too much at play here, and really should of been less. And more of the story. There's also too much stuff that happens, so there is really no time to settle down and have an introduction to are characters. Which is the episodes BIGGEST downfall, as the plot is convoluted due to many things taking place in this episode, a 2 parter might of worked better. But the episode isn't all bad. In the book, Greg finds the camera in a dumpster near the remains of the Coffman house. In the episode, he discovers the house has been leveled, except for the basement, where he finds the camera. Greg's weight gain happens entirely differently. In the book, Greg wakes up only slightly pudgier, then goes to school and immediately becomes obese while sitting in class, then continually grows fatter and fatter as time goes on. In the episode, however, Greg wakes up very chubby and remains virtually the same size for the next several scenes. The next day, Julie receives word that she won the photo contest, but Julie is still worried because Sammy had to be taken to the hospital. Julie has to go to school to take a photo of all of the students from atop the diving board. Julie is worried that she will fall off of the diving board as her photo depicted. Julie has to let David take the big photo. If Julie doesn't fall, she assumes that she will defeat the camera. David takes several photos, and prepares to climb down from the diving board. He slips and is about to fall, but he manages to hold onto the side of the diving board. Julie climbs up onto the diving board and tries to help David. Julie almost falls, but David catches her. Julie rushes home and finds out that all of the photos from the evil camera now looked normal. By not falling, Julie had defeated the camera. Julie gets a phone call from her mother, and Julie's mother tells Julie that Sammy has suddenly been healed.
