Martell has indeed been a favourite for many, being served abroad the Queen Mary in 1936, was served at the coronation of King George V of England and the Concorde in 1977. Incidentally, the reason these abbreviations are in English is because cognac has been exported for many years and the first importers spoke English. The very first Martell Very Superior Old Pale (VSOP) Medaillon cognac was created in 1831. Blended from old Eaux-de-vie that is chosen from the best four crus in the Cognac region, the cognac bears a gold medallion that has the portrait of Louis XIV engraved on it.
