This release coincides with Tycho celebrating launching his first-ever Web 3-based music fan community, Tycho Open Source. Ambient/Techno fans will find that this compilation scratches an itch as Tycho provides an exhilarating release.

With the former you could even subscribe to the label and get sent the album directly making each arrival an “event”. It's a fine mix, all told, with the Warp Records stalwart running through a range of soulful head-nodders (Children of Zeus, Ladi6, Creative Principle), and sun-kissed good-time grooves (Bosq, Massimo Vanoni), before gently upping the tempo via Dim Zach's Imagination-sampling nu-disco, the simmering jazz-funk of Chieftain, and the NYC proto-house style goodness of Soulphiction's SBM project. Then there are those with class, innovation and a true love for the artist they have chosen to curate the mix. I've heard this CD the first time while driving by train from Kassel to Frankfurt/Main (Germany) in the evening, it will often join my on train rides from now on. The compilations usually feature artists other than the artist compiling the album, and are based on what the compiler would play in their home after a night out, rather than as part of a nightclub session.My guess is it might be the Nightmares On Wax release as it would fit into the timeline, but it's been given a totally different catalogue number, it's driving me insane lol! What was particularly special about these mixes was the fact that they were not yet another continuation of the DJ mix where we could get an hours worth of pure dance floor numbers.

His progressive, futuristic yet lo-fi sonic has been described as harkening to themes of nostalgia, childhood, longing and the natural world. Their entry into the lauded chill-out series originally came out in 2000, and while it might not be too hard to find one of the CD copies, the triple vinyl set fetches princely sums these days.Beautiful but not cheesy, rare records but not boring, with the emphasis on tracks themselves, not DJ skills ruining records. A remarkable feature of these compilations is that the featured artist is asked to select other performers’ works that they would play at home at their leisure. Tycho offers a beautifully curated walk through his inspirations and remixes with his episode of Back to Mine. This year, BLACKPINK made history as the first K-pop band to headline a major UK festival at Hyde Park. On Sept 30 th, sublime chillwave and techno artist Tycho releases his contribution to the Back To Mine album series.

Here the mixing is flawless, with silky smooth transitions from track to track and expert track placement. Other stand-outs include Coldcut's classic "Autumn Leaves" (which was sampled by Nick for his Way Out West song "The Fall"), Symbiosis'"Spiritual Technology", and Glide's "Space Van".Each artist gets to present you with their favorite songs, as they would play them for you at an after hours party. It's not hard to see why given the calibre of sweet, soulful grooves dug out by these absolute arbiters of taste, but fortunately you can now cop this tidy orange double vinyl repress with all the finest jams present and correct. Apparently Nick is only known for playing bangign stuff, and this release shows there's much more to him.

As well as being renowned for his photographic and design work under the name ‘ISO50’, Tycho’s music is a blend of various stylistic components, namely in the indie/electronica world blending downtempo guitar, analogue synths and ambient elements such as breathing sounds and excerpts from weather broadcasts and dialogue. Remember when you were a kid and rock and roll or hip-hop or whatever was 'in' with the youth of the day and then you'd go to grandma's house and she'd have this old music from the 30s, 40s, or 50s, be it swing, gospel, soul, big band, whatever, and you'd roll your eyes and make fun? Seeing what they would play when the ugly lights had come on and the desire to either unwind or keep a party flowing was rolling through them. Review:Beyond their monumental output as recording artists, Groove Armada have done more than their fair share of stellar mixes and compilations in their time, but will anything top the first jewel in their crown, Back To Mine?

This has aged very well indeed - very nicely constructed "After Hours" set which transcends soul, grooves, chill, funk and techno.
