Unlike other pedals which utilize cheap load cells originally designed for use in a postal scale, the load cell in the LC3 upgrade kit is a medical-grade load cell designed to withstand much higher loads at faster response times. The load cell is designed to have an unlimited life cycle and the accompanying components are designed to be equally as robust. They allow for floor mounted or inverted pedal mounting positions. This in turn, allows you to set up your pedals to mimic a range of driving setups. You can floor mount them for formula style driving. Or invert them for GT and road cars. Then there is the new conical brake mod, which is from the standard T3PA pedal set. The conical brake mod is a piece of high-density rubber, shaped like a cone. We would confidently say that you will be able to drive better with these pedals compared to the two pedal set. The clutch pedal allows the introduction of heel and toe braking and downshifting. And the brake mod allows you to have much better control over your overall braking technique.

By being able to adjust each pedal in to three different configurations, you will find it much easier to get a good setup for your preference. Many race cars in real life feature a brake and throttle pedal which are mounted closer together.These are designed to work on all T range Thrustmaster wheels, and they should be a must buy for those who have a T300 or TX racing wheel. If you already have a T500 RS, these are practically the same but with the extra braking mod.

But despite not being able to compete with a true loadcell brake. The T3PA-Pro conical brake is almost, almost there. It adds a new dimension in terms of braking quality compared to other Thrustmaster solutions. And it should be your go to setup for a Thrustmaster pedal set.

When you compare these pedals to the standard two pedal set you will see a lot of similarities. The majority of the base of each pedal set is made from plastic. The pedals themselves feature a similar metal design and construction, and they’re hinged in the exact same way. Drifting around corners feels realistic as I let the wheel slip through my hands when the car regains its grip. The experience is powerful and unbelievably smooth, justifying its asking price and immediately selling me on the belt mechanic. Considering the size of the servo, it sounds relatively quiet during gameplay, except for some built-in cooling fans powering up during intense moments. They also look like they should last a long time - my only slight concern is over the cable exit from the base of the unit - this could probably have done with a build in cable strain reducer, but it is easy to do something yourself. We would definitely recommend installing this rubber cone, as it dramatically increases the performance and feeling of the brake. Over time you will be able to brake more consistently and realistically, than you could without it. The T3PA pedals by Thrustmaster are an add-on pedal set which is compatible with the T300 RS, T500 RS, and TX racing wheels. They include a third pedal to improve gameplay over their two pedal cousin.

The brake is a lot stiffer to press than the throttle and the clutch, as you would imagine. And it gives a decent feeling towards braking as standard. We would highly recommend paying the extra cost to add these T3PA pedals to your Thrustmaster racing wheel bundle. One of the most common questions we get is – do Fanatec pedals work with Thrustmaster wheel? This is due to Fanatec producing some of the best sim racing pedal peripherals on the market. The Fanatec CSL Elite LC pedals are one of the best entry level pedals available, the LC standing for load cell.

If you prefer, you can simply install one of these third party pedal plates to create a completely custom pedal setup. I don’t think this is what Thrustmaster were thinking about when deciding to let users remove the pedals. But it is a nice option to have. The more customization with almost any product is good! This allows you to run a closer brake and throttle pedal for heel and toe downshifting, if that’s your style. The T500RS had a spring based brake pedal, which allowed you to stiffen the brake pedal by installing a spring mod. This pedal set really should be your starting point when buying a Thrustmaster racing wheel. And you should ideally stay away from the standard two pedal set. The T3PA pedals are an improvement in every way.
