and this incredible collection draws to a close with Domenico Modugno’s ‘Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu’, which would become a huge hit, often better known as ‘Volare’, and finishing with ‘Refrain’ from Lys Assia - the first ever winner from 1956. Sadly it’s just a cardboard trifold sleeve, no booklet or pictures, the contest has been quite the visual experience over the years, just to see the fashion and hairstyles over the years would have been fun! A must have for fans who never hunted for import collections which other counties have proudly released for years, pity it took so long here. But that aside it's still a good collection of songs even if it's a little top heavy with UK entries some of them not our highest scoring entries. The discs are just slotted into a cut half way inside the sleeve, I’m not a fan of this as the discs can get scratched with frequent use. It has most of the hits that you would expect but there are a few that I suspect the record company couldn’t include like Cliff Richard’s Congratulations etc most probably due to licensing or copyright issues. One of the greatest singers ever, Céline Dion won the contest back in 1988 and leads LP3, which also includes ‘Hold Me Now’ from Johnny Logan, and 4 more winning songs from Jamala, Marija Šerifović, Secret Garden, and the first of four 1990’s victors representing Ireland, Eimear Quinn with ‘The Voice’.
