Since as far as I can see the book doesn’t set out to be anything more substantial than entertainment, then it all comes down to whether the reader finds the subject matter entertaining. I didn’t. In truth, I found it to be reasonably well written unsavoury pulp with an absurd plot, and am entirely untempted to read any more of Hayder’s work. Sacha Dhawan who plays Honey, says: "We first meet Honey and Molina at the beginning of the series when they con their way into the Anchor-Ferrers home. It was great to play those scenes. When I was prepping for Honey, I wanted to make it clear that Molina and Honey are two different characters. Honey, unlike Molina, is very tidy, sharp and focused about making this job meticulous. That's his motivation - to complete it to the best of his ability. The stakes are so high because he's also he's got to fund his family but they’re of course kidnapping a family so there’s a lot of risks and things that could go wrong. Honey and Molina really are chalk and cheese but Molina is the only person Honey has and they’ve got to function together to get out alive. In most crime novels the violent act, usually the murder, is the engine. Take that away and there is little left to drive the story along. So I do get a little cross with authors who aren’t precise about the violence they’re using to create tension because I feel they’re being dishonest with their readers. If people don’t like the blood and violence in my books, fine, they can always close the cover and put it aside and maybe read a romance instead. – Mo Hayder”

The last 25% of the book rushes by in a roller coaster of emotion and I was almost "hiding behind the settee" to read it, reading whilst hiding your eyes is not easy at all. And then the amazing twist right at the end made me want to scream but was of course, just perfect. Viewers may recognise the actor from his role as Jay in StreetDance 3D, or as FBI psychiatrist Robert Borden on US series Blindspot. This book is just wow. It is scary because it is one of those subjects that people think could happen. It is completely realistic in nature and that’s what makes it so frightening. Also the twist was absolutely superb!!!! Meanwhile, Sian Reese-Williams ( Line Of Duty, Hidden) stars DI Maia Lincoln, a woman with a case to prove, Juliet Stevenson is Mathilda Anchor-Ferrers, an intelligent yet neurotic wealthy housewife, with Owen Teale ( Game Of Thrones) as her wealthy and well-connected husband Oliver. Annes Elwyplays their daughter Lucia Anchor-Ferrers.

After a brief marriage to Gary Olsen she emigrated at 25 to Japan [6] [7] where she became a teacher of English as a foreign language in Tokyo. One of the biggest writing challenges of this series was balancing the two crime storylines, (both of which are rich with twists and turns – one of Mo Hayder’s specialities), with enough breathing room for characterisation. I’d like to think we succeeded in doing this, though, as evidenced by the stunning cast we got on board. The roles in this series are hugely demanding and every actor brought their A game. Now, you could say there is a decent mystery in who these two really are and why they are targeting this particular family. But it is obscured by a sheer unpleasantness that taps into our deep-seated fears: of home invasion, torture, the threat of rape and murder.
