A multi-coat version of thinned Aethermatic Blue gives a smoother, icier look (I ditched the blue wings later). Credit: Kenji Monsters with multiple variants will now consistently spawn as those variants when newly placed in the Personal Slayer Dungeon. Now use the browns from your pallete to selectively edge highlight the horns, using a shade one stage lighter than they were painted initially.

Tabard

The steel was done with a base coat of Citadel Leadbelcher, an all-over layer of Nuln Oil, then a final edge highlight of Vallejo Game Color Silver. Then do any other metallics in literally whatever paints are nearby, I find the variety helps make the knights look more unique Step 1(Left)- A solid coat of Zandri Dust. My pot is pretty thin and it took three coats to get a mostly smooth base coat. Shade all the silver joint areas of the armour with NuIn Oil. Take care to keep it off the Ushabti Bone coloured armour. Again, if you make a mistake, just let it dry fully and tidy up with some Ushabti Bone. Step 4 – Paint Highlights

For Crypt Horrors and Flayers, I added in colors where applicable. On the Horrors, I added in some light pink by way of thinned Volupus Pink contrast in a 1:1 ratio of contrast to medium. This gave me a pink skin on areas that would look irritated, such as their spinal ridges, and on Flayers I used the same recipe and two coast to cover their wings, being sure to watch out for areas where it might pool or look mottled and weird. This also helped build some consistency with my Arch-Regent, who has pieces of all of the army theme on them (bone, fur, wings, claws, etc.) as well as extra details. Death Guard – Death Guard are a Chaos Space Marine army known for their decay and disease, and Ushabti Bone is a great color to use for their details to create a natural, bone-like effect. Skitarii – Skitarii are a faction of the Adeptus Mechanicus, and Ushabti Bone is a great color to use for their robotic bodies and other details to create a natural, bone-like effect.For the Mortek Guard below, this would be about what I’d consider finished. At this point it’s just a matter of doing any final touch up and deciding on a basing scheme, but I think the shield especially shows the way these two contrasting colors can really pop when successive layers of the colors blended together are applied. Also, as a note, that is NOT the standard shield; I was given the model without an arm and converted a shield for him. It’s like the same size as him, and he is my cute smol skeleton son now. The decision to list these specific armies was made because they are all known for their use of advanced technology and undead/robotics elements, and Ushabti Bone can enhance those features. This color can be used to create a natural, bone-like effect, depending on the army and the specific models being painted.
