The eponymous gin brand of the Cotswolds was founded in 2014 by Daniel Szor, a native New Yorker with a passion for all things gin and whisky. It’s only natural it’s our number one. The capital of the Cotswolds with picturesque streets and the brilliant green space of Cirencester Park. You'll learn how they create their award-winning spirits; from the selection and distillation of botanicals, to the intricate field-to-glass journey of the ethically sourced speciality coffees of their famous Conker Coffee Liqueur.

Gin School sessions are three hours long. Guests can also enjoy 10% off all Salcombe Distilling Co. products in their retail store on their visit. The aroma is lucid. Grapefruit oils, a hint of lime, a lavender tinged floral musk, and a hearty and intensely true to fresh ground juniper berries touch of juniper. Lovely and vibrant, it’s a nose that certainly stands in memory.Next up in our Smithery Sessions series, we are partnering with Callibgraphy to bring you a festive calligraphy workshop to add that extra personal touch to your Christmas cards this year.

Starting with a Hot Mulled Sloe gin on a chilly winter’s evening, Libby from Callibgraphy will take you through the calligraphy techniques using a mixture of calligraphy paint brushes and calligraphy pens to create a stunning homemade Christmas card and gift tag for a loved one this season. You’ll get a slightly more vegetal take in your Cotswold’s Gin and Tonic also, with notes of celery and eucalyptus adding perceptual coolness on the nose and palate. I recommend it garnishes with a slice of cucumber rather than the usual citrus fruit. Cotswolds Dry Gin is very restrained in its use of cardamom and lavender. Rather than hit you in the face with it— despite the 10x botanical remark— the two add color but never take center stage. You’ll even get to apply a wax seal and label to your 70cl bottle so it’s ready to be taken home the very same day.
