I was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed certain aspects of this book and at how engaged I was throughout my reading. That being said, there were quite a few points where I wish a theme had been pushed further or I felt like this book didn't have as much emotional impact as it could have had. I only comment on the potential emotional impact because that seems to be a core goal of the book. Verbal descriptive scales typically group words such as “none,” “moderate,” or “severe” and permit an intensity rating of pain. However, the 0-to-10 or 1-to-10 NRS is used most commonly in clinical practice for adult patients who can communicate in English (see Fig. 5-3). For culturally diverse patients with language barriers, the Wong-Baker FACES Pain Rating Scale (pain rating scale of smile to frown) may be helpful. This scale is also used for children, older adults, and developmentally disabled populations ( Flaherty, 2008).

Not only do health care professionals need continued education about pain management, but the public needs education as well. Nurses can help patients and their families achieve and maintain successful pain management through education. In this hospital, is there a regular evaluation of the quality of the pain records in the hospital charts? I stumbled across a Logan Paul video, and watched my first ever Logan Paul VLOG. A guy who’s constantly hounded by the press and can’t go a step wrong without making another headline. But at the same time someone who genuinely seems like a down to earth guy who’s using his fame to provide a better life for those around him and bring them on his journey with them. Pain that accompanies surgery is one of the most common examples of acute pain, but it is not always well managed. In general, those with pain involving superficial or cutaneous (skin) structures describe their pain as superficial and can often localize the pain to a specific area. Does the person associate any activities, food, or other environmental factors with the onset of pain? What does the patient think causes the present pain? Was the onset of pain sudden or slow? Has the patient done anything or taken anything to relieve the pain? What were the results of the intervention? Pain is generally related to some type of tissue damage and serves as a warning signal. Although pain is familiar to most people, it is so complex that there is no single, universal treatment.

Knowing that no matter your upbringing or your situation you and you alone can change that. Your mentality and perseverance is put to the test to see you grow as a person and to further your ambitions. I am so happy I found this podcast!! As an (allopathic) physician, I appreciate Lisa's recommendation that all women work with a team of providers. I am blown away by how much I've learned from her podcast in such a short amount of time — much of it I never learned in medical school, including FAM! I highly recommend this podcast to everyone, but especially those planning to try to conceive, actively trying to conceive, and couples facing infertility. Lisa, thank you for taking the time to educate us on FAM and natural resources for improving our fertility!The book was written very well, using lots of very descriptive detail, almost making you feel like you were right there watching what was happening. The book compelled me to keep reading because I was interested all the time in what would happen next. One thing that I would have changed would be how fast the book felt it moved. The book changed very fast on to the next stages of Mike's life and would have been sometimes nice to hear a little bit more of what happened in each part of the story. Pain is also a major economic problem and a leading cause of disability that hampers the lives of many people, especially older adults. Chronic pain is the most common cause of long-term disability, affecting millions of Americans and others throughout the world. Just like every other human being, I am not so keen on YouTuber books, but Mike is so much more than just a YouTuber - and as someone who has admired his and Logan’s growth over the last two or three years, I really enjoyed the book.
