I thought may be there is a limit to the number of maps that can get listed in that toggle window so I removed all non essential Garmin maps off of my device and placed the open street maps one by one (the most rrequired one) and later installed Worldwide map from Garmin express but the Behavior is same.. now I can see the openstreet map in toggle window but not the garmin express installed maps (even though i can see the files in GARMIN folder)… Ever faced this issue.. or am i being stupid somethere.. Thanks mate appreciate your time and response.

The Garmin Fenix 5S PLUS is a PROPER sports watch, it’s even one of the very few PROPER triathlon watches. If you are an ‘International’ Age Grouptriathlete then I would recommend it to you. If you RUN with MUSIC, I would recommend it to you over the Forerunner 645 MUSIC or VIVOACTIVE 3 MUSIC. Indeed it’s probably even better than Garmin’s ‘best’ running watch ie better than the Forerunner 645 Music. Why You Would NOT Buy The Fenix 5S Plus Built-in navigation sensors include three-axis compass, gyroscope and barometric altimeter as well as multiple satellite system with GPS, GLONASS and Galileo To disable a given map though, on your device hold the middle button > Activities & Apps > Choose your sport > Settings > Map > Configure Maps > Toggle on/off the map that you just loaded. You can see below the Openfetsmap Lite-NLD, which is my Netherlands map. While above it is the Garmin TopoActive US Map since this was a US Fenix 5 Plus. By pressing the select button, it’ll turn on/off the different maps. Super easy. It’s a little cumbersome. But it works. Although having said that some of the mapping functions are sometimes a little too slow for my liking.

If you want especially long battery life, say for an Ironman, then you will make another choice. Putting such a niche need to one side, your 5S PLUS battery will be SUPERIOR to the WearOS and Apple Watch alternatives. Look here, the battery life is generally fine, it’s certainly good enough for me: On a different day when cycling, below, the COROS is slightly the worst of the three. COROS (Red) – Wahoo (Yellow) – Fenix 5S (Green) I see the picture, my point was far more subtle perhaps: Don’t complain about things without offering solutions. But as the name also alludes, this is more of a small bump-up on last year's model than a full jump. At first blush it looks just the same as the 5S, but the watch now comes loaded with new features like onboard music, Garmin Pay and full-colour topographical maps, the last of which had previously been available only on the big bad Fenix 5X. Openwater and pool swim profiles are both available with stroke detection. Openwater has GPS enabled and you can set a custom pool length when using a pool. If you use an outdoor pool you use pool mode.

Once it’s done copying, you should now see that file sitting in the Garmin folder. The names will be similar, but it’s the one ending in ‘Supp’ (like ‘supplementary’): In the Fenix 5 collection, the Sapphire models also have WiFi (the normal ones do not), which makes the transfer of data from watch to smartphone a bit easier. But otherwise they are identical to the normal editions. I fully appreciate that some people don’t want to (or can’t) wear a chest strap. If you are one of those people then Garmin/Polar are your best hopesof wrist-based optical HR accuracy. But it still might be inaccurate. And when I say inaccurate I mean WRONG and not just ‘a bit off’. We will come on to Firstbeat Physiological algorithms later on…they’re generally awesome/clever..BUT they are mostly based on HR. The phrase “ Rubbish In…rubbish out” is worth remembering (hint: buy a chest strap to enjoy the Firstbeat awesomeness). Fixed an issue where the device would try to auto resume an activity during 'Resume later,' if connected to an inReach Mini.

GARMIN FENIX 5 PLUS VS. GARMIN FENIX 5 – comparison

Effectively POIs of many types are overlain onto the map. So you can do very much the same sort of thing on the 5S Plus as you can on your Satnav eg you can navigate to the nearest Bank should you so desire. I would say that the POI-based navigation works well and one of the first things you might do is add a custom POI as your ‘home’ or your hotel in a new city. As of 24 July 2018 my recommendation for you is to just use GPS. Turn off GLONASS and turn off GALILEO – for now. That will save some battery. Compass – you know what it does. But the Fenix compass can be nuanced to, for example, show true North and magnetic North.

The ‘more complete routing experience’ is a kinda obvious statement. Previously there were NON-intelligent breadcrumb trails and nowthere is all the intelligence of a car’s satnav to re-route you over proper roads & trails when you make a wrong turning. Overlay on top of that all of Garmin’s pre-existing functionality around compasses, round trip routing, barometric+GPS altimeters and you soon start to have a pretty cool outdoors tool. However there is a new version of each of the regular Fenix 5 line ie the Fenix 5S plus, the Fenix 5X plus and the Fenix 5 plus. I’ve only seen very little info about the 5X plus and that could possibly not happen. Garmin Fenix 5 Plus If you are ONLY EVER going to do Open Water Swim + Road Bike + Run then you don’t need the special Garmin multisport functionality. But is that really all you are ver going to do? (Hint: it won’t be) Outdoor & Recreation Features Much of the other interest in this section comes with what other sensors can be paired TO the Fenix 5S Plus. But the main thing to note is that the earlier non-Plus version of the Fenix 5 had CONNECTIVITY PROBLEMS. These are now resolved with the Plus series. ie don’t think that you will get a few less features by going for the non-Plus version…that’s true but you will also get stuff that doesn’t work. GET THE 5 PLUS NOT THE 5 non-PLUS HeadphonesIf you're at all familiar with last year's Garmin Fenix 5S, chances are you won't be able to spot any differences here at first glance. The 5S was introduced with the Fenix 5 line as an option for people who wanted the benefits of the Fenix without the bulk. Measuring 42mm wide and weighing 69g, you're getting the same dimensions as on the non-Plus version here. It's not the daintiest thing, but women especially are going to find it a much better fit. However, it’s not all sweet-smelling rose at junctions – as the following image shows on a different day where the 935 is about right. And the 5S Plus…isn’t. But the 5S soon corrects itself. 935 (Blue) – 5S Plus (Red) Dual Grid – Displays your current location in your configured coordinate grid in addition to latitude/longitude A LOT of metrics are pre-installed on the device and there are additional data fields you can get from Connect IQ. Once you’ve got it installed, open it up (again, remember to fully close Garmin Express first), and then plug in your Garmin device. It’ll show up just like below. Simply drag the gmapsupp.img file into the Garmin folder. Remember not to drag the .zip file, but rather the .img file inside the zip file.

NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults. There are many aspects of the Fenix 5S Plus that will be accurate to varying degrees. The steps and stairs climbed will be accurate enough for the purposes that the data is put towards.
