VR Media Connection: enables a direct VR viewing with VR headsets such as Oculus Go (reviewed here). Step 6: Here is the tedious part. You manually must find 5 control points (corresponding points in each lens). Ideally, the 5 control points should be spread evenly around the image circle. To add a control point, tap on the + icon on the bottom right. Then tap on any point around the image circle. You’ll see a zoomed in view for each lens. Move the crosshair in each lens to the same point. Hint: you can drag anywhere in the circle to drag the crosshair. When you are done, tap on the + icon again to create another control point. Adding a control point in Theta Z1 Stitcher calibration We were able to see the Android version in action, but the iOS version for iPhone and iPad is not quite ready yet.

In my opinion the Z1 is still the best option if you want an easy to use 360 camera for shooting high quality virtual tours. What made the camera great for shooting 360 photos (and therefore VR tours) is the unique dual one inch lenses which allow for improved dynamic range and better quality compared to other 360 cameras.Obvious basic general instruction there but not really simple information like: the difference between green and what blue color lights on front and side of the unit.. How to be sure and recognize: when wifi is Off is ON and when is searching and how to be sure its properly connected you need to play with it to find out and it’s more fun when Screen is too small to see the wifi icon all the time and you need to press buttons which may do other things instead of showing you wifi status… The video quality on the samples seems to be underwhelming. The detail level is noticeably lower compared to 5.7K cameras in 2019. The contrast is also quite high, with very deep shadows. I took test shots in brighter light conditions which did not materially change the appearance of the videos. On the positive side, the videos can be edited to reduce contrast, which reveals a little more detail in shadows. However, see below re its low light video quality. Ricoh also has several apps for laptops, including its Basic app (Windows and Mac) which is only for photos, a File Transfer app (Mac), a Movie Converter app (Windows and Mac), and an Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC plugin. The Basic app and Movie Converter apps are just that, and don’t allow you to edit the photos or videos in any way. In the case of sunlight, flare and halation can be suppressed by making the lens and the sun face each other, and stitching can be done beautifully. I don’t know yet. I’m testing it. Theta Z1 does run on Android OS so in theory the USB Type C can be used to connect and save files directly to external storage with the right plugin.

While neither of the Theta cameras are particularly designed with shooting video in mind, there is a clear difference between them. The Theta Z1, even with the larger sensors, is unable to match the quality of its video with its photos. Limited to 4K, the resolution of the Z1 video is disappointing and there’s little in the way of stabilization or shooting modes. I wouldn’t recommend using this camera for any serious video work. Switches the wireless LAN mode between “Access point mode” (direct connection to a smartphone), “Client mode” (connection to a smartphone via a wireless router), and “Off”. (Switching to the “Client mode” is possible only when the router settings have been made.) Added a function for converting and playing videos shot with the RICOHTHETA (model: RICOHTHETA m15). By comparison, the Insta360 One X takes stills at 18MP (6080 x 3040), and its max video resolution is 5.7K (5760 x 2880) at 30 fps. The GoPro Max takes 16.6-MP photos at 5.6K video.
