He understands all the game jargon and interface without much of a tutorial and he does a really stupid, not cautious thing at the beginning of the game despite someone telling him not to and the presence of the main antagonist in the room. The writing and performance are both quite good, but the most important part of this book is it's the introduction to a great series! This is my second foray into LITRPG, on the whole it was very well done, my only criticism is the over use of character's names. The stats got boring quickly as there was just too many of them and there was such an obsession with the game mechanics that it all felt a bit confusing and needless at times.This mighty and giant warrior of ages long forgotten has been resurrected by foul means to walk the earth once more. I was ten, and it's probably a good thing there were no sewers on my street, otherwise, I would have delved down with my hand-crafted wooden sword and my trash can shield, ready to smite evildoers of all stripes, likely to never be heard from again. The Barrow is a sentient dungeon, so whilst there is other things occurring, side quests, potential allies, etc, it focuses mainly on the dungeon aspect as Finn, in game name Gryph, works his way through hoping to find am exit, his enemy, and tries to find his sister.

Yet, as he set the fresh pint in front of the older man, Finn couldn’t help wishing that his demon was as simple as alcoholism.Maybe he’d needed the sarcastic dickhead AI to keep him engaged in life when he was close to giving up on it.
