The development brings forward an almost spicy note, that turns again and becomes a more soapy scent.

Actually, if this had been a cheap perfume, I would probably have been less lenient and would have attributed such a drydown to poor quality. But this is Kilian, so they're allowed to be strange.I decided that I would give it a try this morning since I would be in a temp controlled environment all day. I still put down a base layer of "By the fireplace" and put about 4 spritzes of "Kismet" on top.

My father's birthday is coming up and he likes and wears the original Joop Homme. His bottle is running low so i contemplated in gifting Kismet to him since i already have a couple of scents i would use in similar situations. This morning i did a spray on my hand and let's just say i'll get him a new bottle of Joop Homme hahaha. My greedy self is keeping this baby!To me, It's more freshie than gourmand...wasn't counting on that, but hey...it still smells fabulous! Fragrantica editors have allocated this to the "Floral" category; if you buy it on the basis that it's a floral perfume, you are going to be desperately disappointed. Kismet is an Oriental. It DOES bear similarities to Shalimar (allocated to the Oriental Spicy category); they also smell as if they're from the same era. It may even be that the original Kismet helped inspire Jacques Guerlain's Shalimar, as it predates it by four years or so. This Kismet is more "user friendly" than the current Shalimar. I'd love to get my hands on the original in that gorgeous bottle, to compare it to its current formulation. Frankly, I am really disappointed not to have found any value for money in this buy, because this perfume is absolutely overhyped. I was sampling a whole bunch of white florals in a row, and this is the only one that really stood out to me. I thought it was a little complex, I had a hard time describing it. It was definitely the most interesting in the line up. After a few minutes the florals began to come out. It was another confusing moment as it was sour smelling florals with a tinge of hairspray, but when I sniff at my wrist it was much sweeter, mostly tuberose and jasmine (that I can discern anyway)

I actually got two compliments at the gas station this morning while filling up and that has NEVER happened in the past 2 times I wore this fragrance. And the last two times I wore Kismet, I put on enough to leave a noticeable dent of about 1/4in removed from the bottle. I mean, I BATHED IN KISMET, and it didn't perform and was gone in an hour. Have to admit i bought this fragrance blindly after hearing of YSL Tuxedo on a Demi Rawling video where she called it the best men's fragrance ever. Her raving about it seems really genuine (In time i learned to take Youtuber's opinions with more then a grain of salt). Rochas Moustache was unavailable for a while in my country and frankly i prefered this one's presentation. Both this and Moustache are clones of Tuxedo. EDIT: Actually, layering this with "Ameer al Oud intense" is perfect! Boosts it's projection, longevity and sillage with a nice spicy vanilla woody base. Kismet is a great smelling fragrance, but made for more formal/intimate situations on it's own. This is a wonderful tuberose / white floral scent and for the price, I am really impressed with how amazing it is!

Contrary to others, I have not observed any change due to masceration. Smells and performs the same as when I opened it. To be perfectly honest, I generally disregard claims about masceration, since there's no way to reliably know how long it's been since a particular batch was made when you're buying it. In addition, I expect a quality fragrance to perform out of the box - I'm not in the market for scent bonds that need to mature (and if it needs to mature, the manufacturer should mature it and sell us the finished product). So far so good and bravo to Killian for putting on the market a brand that promises to provide a different kind of luxury, given the fact that he is the heir of a very long and quality industry of a totally different field - yet he chose to be involved in perfumery clearly because of pure love for it. I respect that. I've only had a sample of this, and I didn't have an issue at all with longevity, projection or sillage, but based on the price and others saying they regret buying a full bottle, I don't think I'll consider a full bottle. For the price this is a steal, if you like this scent profile. And even if you don't , I don't see why not this fragrance cannot grow on you. But like I said in the beginning, there is absolutely nothing bad about it, this good girl stayed good with her green fruits and soap.

Kismet is warm, but the vanilla is not sweet and eatable , it is powdery and classy. Later becomes creamy, complex ... like a mixture between otherworldly and "something old and comforting" . The creaminess makes it feel like there is tone of musk in it, but other notes create the feel. It's such a wonderful, warm scent, at the same time super comfortable and wearable, and very complex and elegant. It's very much an oriental fragrance to my nose, which is a category that usually leaves me cold, but Kismet is exceptional in every sense. Opoponax and labdanum are prominent from the very start; at first they're joined by rather bitter citrus notes, which is nice, but the magic starts to happen a little later on when the vanilla joins the party. It settles down deliciously powdery and sweet, but in a balanced way - the resins make sure of that, and this combination is really a match made in heaven, and executed to perfection. This balanced character makes it very versatile as well; I can imagine wearing this in almost any situation and even any type of weather except high summer, and never getting tired of it. It also projects just right, and lasts all day. For me, it falls into the category of scents I could imagine having as a signature if I were still that kind of perfume wearer. The price point requires true love for a committment, and while Good Girl Gone Bad is a beautifully blended floral, I also feel like it's too easy to replace with cheaper, probably nicer, equally performing fragrances. I am really enjoying this latest release from Lubin. Kismet is a delicious, balmy vanilla scent, super cuddly and perfectly suited to the cooler months.Frankly I can understand the appeal with this brand and I can respect anyone who loves it, but unfortunately for me the tuberose made this perfume an unforgivable experience. Planned musk shopping ended with Kismet, yet another vintage-powder-vanilla fragrance, along with all Parfum Initial versions I already have.
