The Consultant on Prime Video is based on the novel of the same name by Bentley Little and rests somewhere in the middle of reality and fiction. While neither the show nor the book is based on real life, the former has been brought to life by creator Tony Basgallop with familiar sensibilities. The Consultant has an extensive and constantly confronting thematic web with themes like the evolution of humanoids, climbing up the professional ladder, and new corporate life rhetorics. The Consultant has a veiled satirical undertone but it is Christoph Waltz’s starring role as Regus Patoff and his seemingly sinister plot that catches the eye.
