It’s the malts that come to the fore in the taste assisted by herby, grassy and mango flavours. There’s a dash of bitterness, which is all it needs. In this method, both alcoholic beers and no-alcohol beers are made the same, and the alcohol is removed after the process. Punk AF pours a light straw colour – quite a lot lighter than the original I fancy. The first bottle I tried looked a bit flat, with hardly no head or lacing. But the second (from the same batch) looked better in the glass, with a modest white head. Disclaimer

Ghost Walker is BrewDog’s collaboration with metal band Lamb of God, which is a pretty freaking 2020-esque sentence if you ask us—a legendary heavy metal band with their own non-alcoholic beer. That’s certainly a fun novelty, although in terms of profile, this beer is actually quite similar to the previous Hazy AF. They don’t necessarily play up the “hazy” aspect, but the flavor profile it’s going for hits very close to the same tropical fruit-driven IPA. The aroma is understated compared to some IPAs, but complex and interesting all the same. Importantly, it sets you up for a sip.

At BrewDog, we’ve grown organically since making our first product, Punk IPA, in 2007. Now, we’ve got dozens of beers plus a range of ciders, spirits and alcohol-free beverages to tempt the adventurous drinker. In 2015, we launched our first gluten-free beer, Vagabond Pale Ale, alongside our regular range. It proved popular, and as far as taste was concerned, it was every bit as flavoursome as the barley-based beers we made. The aroma – and the hype – behind Punk AF promised so much. But, despite that gorgeous and varied aroma, it falls a bit flat.We only supply the Goods for domestic and private use. If you’ve ever had a mainstream Japanese beer, there’s a good chance it was based on rice, but if you have delved into the most esoteric caverns of craft brewing, you’ve probably tasted plenty of beers made with other grains. Also, beers made with barley can actually be made gluten-free, just as most alcohol-free beer starts out as a normal alcoholic drink. Brewing any type of beer, with or without alcohol, starts the same way. Whether it's IPA or lager, it all begins with a process called mashing. In this step, malted grain (or other types of grain) is partly crushed and mixed with hot water. The grain goes through a few more steps - lautering and boiling - before it reaches fermentation. This is where the alcohol is produced. The grain bill includes wheat and flaked oats alongside Caramalt and Munich malts. This is complemented by eight varieties of hops – Cascade, Chinook, Citra, Mosaic, Nelson Sauvin and Simcoe as well as two types not featured in the original Punk, Hüll Melon and Ahtanum.
