However, Patrick harbours a darker side and at night indulges in a confused orgy of drugs, pornography, prostitution and murderous fantasies. American Psycho's 4K release is no exception, with all of the old extras making the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc itself - including Commentaries, Deleted Scenes with optional Commentary, and two Featurettes on the 80s New York scene and the adapting the book - but also a further, new Commentary from the Director to boot. I'm including the screenshots from both discs just fro the sake of being absolutely thorough, but don't get it twisted.

The Metropolitan disc kept the featurette, trailers and interviews, as well as dug up a bunch more of those interview clips, divided into arbitrary categories like "My Life" and "Newspaper Killer. When Patrick is outshone by a rival at a board meeting, he takes out his frustration by knifing a man sleeping rough in the street. When the Killer Edition came out, it blew both of those versions out of the water, but didn't render them completely obsolete, as it frustratingly left off the 'making of' featurette and most of the on-set interviews.Lionsgate's native 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release remains one of the best upgrades on the format over their earlier flawed Blu-ray, with excellent Dolby Vision-Enhanced full-fat 4K and Dolby Atmos-enhanced 3D HD audio, as well as all of the extras - and new ones - ported over to the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc itself.

I dutifully stood in line opening night, plunked down my hard-earned cash from my part-time job, and sat in a darkened theater expecting to be amazed. I mean they are engaged and directional from the score and soundtrack bleeding through and the hustle and bustle of crowds and people and whatnot. But we expect the bad guy to get his in the end -- or if he does get away with his crimes, there has to be some Big Moral Lesson in there to reaffirm our accepted worldview of what is good and what is evil.
