I do not know what changed. This is the story about a girl's headaches. Why did I go into the water alone at night? It's the kind of story many kids dream of playing a role in -- golden sunsets on a private island, a tight-knit family, funny and cool kids -- but the characters aren't developed enough to be loved. In fact, readers never get a real sense of why the kids earned the name Liars. The half-sentences and lists provide a poetic tone, lending a smart edge to a mysterious narrative, but the meat of the story, the bond between the Liars themselves, is not entirely clear. Although the drunken family members are supposed to be pitied, they're simply too aloof to provoke compassion. The references to King Lear are obvious to the point of being redundant.

Normalmente intento hacer críticas constructivas, pero sigo sin entender muy bien la intención de esta novela. ¿Dónde está el gran misterio que rodea a Cady, la protagonista? Ni siquiera creo que sea un thriller, como se cataloga. Es una historia sin más con un giro en la trama que se ve venir desde literalmente el primer capítulo. En serio, ¿qué mierdas? ¿De verdad me he tragado 200 páginas para descubrir algo que era más que obvio? Y encima ni siquiera es algo grave, es como... Normal, no sé, hay cientos de historias exactamente igual que estas.

Cadence Easton: Protagonist and narrator of the novel, Penny's only child and the oldest grandchild. This review may seem just as ambiguous as the story itself, but it must be if you wish to obtain the full effect of its delivery. Cadence later realizes that Johnny, Mirren, and Gat also died in the fire because she had prematurely set fire to the ground floor and trapped Johnny and Mirren on higher floors and Gat in the basement, preventing their escape as the house burnt down. She goes to visit the Liars at Cuddledown where they tell her that their deaths were not her fault (as they share responsibility) and reveal that they will no longer be able to appear to her, with Gat giving her a final kiss and the three of them diving into the ocean and disappearing. It is revealed that Carrie and Ed are still together, Cadence and her mother start to reconcile and she endeavors to live her life and endure. I won’t get into the plot because I don’t want to spoil this for potential readers, but I will say that its an excellent addition to the series and I’m really glad the author wrote it. I loo forward to doing a re-read of WWL in the near future. more than anything, i think this is a story about the complexities of sisterhood. i don’t have sisters so i can’t fully understand the bond between sisters but the relationship between the Sinclair sisters stole the show for me and physically pained me to read. the amount of times my heart was beating out of my chest or i began to cry was countless. and that’s why this is getting five stars, just purely due to the visceral reaction it evoked within me... just like when i was 14 years old.Quite a few secrets come out which I enjoyed, and it all followed through well. There wasn’t anything that didn’t make sense - at least to me anyway. In the summer of 1985, Caroline has so much on her plate: dealing with the grief of drowning 10 years old sister Rosemary whose ghost starts visiting her as her beautiful and self absorbed sisters Bee and Penelope already moved on with her lives, flirting with boys, enjoying summer, pretending nothing tragic happened just like her parents do. I guess I understand why the author does this, by the end of the novel, I felt so bad for this poor little girl, who only could go to a single island every summer.
