The grief is compared to Lissie’s time gardening on her parents farm, and tempered by the lightness of the acoustic guitar riff and a soaring, cathartic chorus.

Welsh rock group Dream State have already achieved theirs of making splashes in the scene, but it looks like they’re Still Dreaming. I always feel like I sing better in Nashville, because in LA it’s dry, so my voice is always a little pinched. It’s the longest song of the album and it is both a reflection on the past and a hope for the future. It was kinda hard, but once I was able to sort of get the hang of it, I’m kind of grateful for having so much time to just be, and be in my home and be with my dog and to eventually be around more for my family and friends. Just seeing a lot of metaphor in the things I was doing in the garden, that we’re happening outside.Due to inventory and accounting purposes, we do not exchange items received for different items than originally purchased. But I’ve never been able to really define myself, so I don’t know if my team would even know how to get me on country radio! Then, having proven herself, her second album Back to Forever was heavier and Lissie, having always seemed to carry an innate and unbreakable confidence, appeared more comfortable and carefree than ever, singing “I don’t know what this game is / Cause I’m not even playing it / You don’t know what my name is / So what, so what? AH: That kind of leads me to Madi Diaz – she co-wrote one of the songs with you, and she’s becoming a favorite of mine, too.

As Lissie rediscovers what makes her the person she is, she unveils her most authentic qualities: every bit of this song contributes to offer a full mosaic picture of Lissie’s way of seeing the world. The singer is angry at her past lover, she thinks about all the wrong things he did and she hopes he’s suffering only at the thought of her. It’s not as simple as ‘I’m just deciding to play you’ – you kinda need a bunch of people to go to bat for you and come up with a plan, get the right people involved. It doesn't feel like a step back, rather it feels like a natural pause to breathe after a long hike. I’d almost say more to my producer and my musicians’ influence over recognizing that my voice can do those things, so they sort of nudge me in that direction.The woodlands and the tillable acreage, I’ve been doing a lot of conservancy, like getting goats to clean out invasives. It’s a bluesy number, and comes complete with echoing guitars that invoke the openness of the Lissie’s native American Midwest.

Did a lot of gardening, went for a lot of walks, just really sort of tried to observe the cycles in nature, the growth and clearing space to help other things grow. Then, the tillable acres, trying to take them out of crop production and putting everything into prairie.

Not that my small amount of acres and prairie will do a lot to sequester carbons, but there’s a lot to be said if more of the heartland was put back into prairie, that would actually sequester a lot of carbons, and I’m interested in that. I think it would just be more peaceful if more people took responsibility for their emotions and did a little bit better of a job of being right with themselves so they didn’t have to go around and be sh!

L: I’ve done a few little one-offs – I was able to go over to the UK last spring and did, like, three shows, and I did a couple shows this summer in Norway. The album’s context – the loneliness at the center of the pandemic – feels almost behind the times (partly because of the surfeit of covid-based releases over the past few years). It’s through this connection with nature that the singer has found her piece, it’s through seeing herself as part of the environment that she has found the best way to express herself and know how to cope with pain. With references ranging from Fleetwood Mac and Florence + the Machine to Bon Iver, it’s her most emotionally resonant and personal record.
