Meeting in the hotel room, Wax decides to press on to Dulsing even though he has been framed for Kelesina's murder and is probably needed back in Elendel to sort things out. The story starts with a very steampunk feel, turns into a Western, then into a political thriller, before shifting into the type of adventure Allan Quatermain would kill to be involved in. Shadows of Self shows Mistborn’s society evolving as technology and magic mix, the economy grows, democracy contends with corruption, and religion becomes a growing cultural force, with four faiths competing for converts. They all have different personalities and are unique in their own way even though they have the same goal. I thought book 5 was a good deal better, enjoying the dialog between Wax and Wayne more and more and thoroughly enjoying the thread of lost love and evil gods (and ineffectual good ones, too. They are succeeded by wonderful new characters, chief among them Waxillium Ladrian, known as Wax, hereditary Lord of House Ladrian but also, until recently, a lawman in the ungoverned frontier region known as the Roughs. In the case of Steris we are initially introduced to her when she is discussing a very detailed and thorough marriage contract with Wax in 'The Alloy of Law'; a contract that specified the frequency of marital relations, the expected number of heirs, etc.However, while they did grant all known Allomantic and Feruchemical abilities, they were not actually made by the Lord Ruler, and instead, the Sovereign was involved. I love Brandon Sanderson so much and this book has just confirmed to me that he is the King of fantasy.

List all metro areas (or reasonably small states or countries) where you want to hear about all events where Brandon will be appearing.I learned how much power over a situation you gain when you decide that you don't care what others think of you. Meanwhile, Marasi has figured out that the spearhead from the statue is the actual Bands of Mourning. In a world of disappointing characters hardly even comparable to the legends from the time of the Final Empire, this girl stands out as a shining beacon of perfection. What really makes this novel stands out, though, is not the adventure into steampunkland or the straight adventure into finding the Lord Ruler's own metalmind that allows the wearer full access to all 16 metals and ferrochemical attributes, but the fact that it was done well.

During the later half of 2014 Brandon was having difficulty getting back into the story for Shadows of Self, he had previously written a third or so of it in 2012 between drafts of A Memory of Light. This ability has thrown him to the forefront of the genre and this novel will take him to the next level. As Wax uses his newfound power to quickly disable Set forces and capture Edwarn, Steris and Allik liberate his remaining captive crew members.

Fui uno de los que salió levemente decepcionados con Sombras de Identidad, pero creo que la razón es que ese libro no contuvo mucho Cosmere, o mejor dicho, hubo Cosmere mal metido. Marasi realizes that the temple is a decoy, and the real bands have been reforged into a metal spearhead on a statue outside the temple. Coinshot couriers weren't an uncommon sight in Elendel, and men soaring through the air were rarely a point of interest.
