The brand’s Añejo expression begins with 100% blue weber agave, which is double distilled and then aged 18 months in ex-California wine barrels. Casamigos ranks as the best-selling tequila brand on Drizly, and each of its three products — Casamigos Blanco, Casamigos Reposado, and Casamigos Añejo — rank in the top five sellers of their respective subcategories. As opposed to most Blanco Tequilas that are bottled right after distillation, Casamigos is rested for 2 months in steel tanks making the Tequila smoother. And just like wine, tequila can be aged in a number of different containers, from oak barrels to steel drums. The texture on the palate is good, initially showcasing robust agave flavors before transitioning into a peppery bite.

The insights I’ve gained aren’t just from books or hearsay; they are the result of hands-on experience, countless tastings, and an enduring passion for these spirits. This tequila is produced in the lowlands of the Jalisco region, so it won’t exhibit the same sweetness or fruit-forward flavors as some of the other picks on our list. Each batch is distilled for a minimum of two months in stainless steel barrels, and delivers a nice mix of sweet agave, light citrus and just a hint of vanilla.
