If you don’t have a large enough sheet, trying carefully taping a few sheets together. Transfer paper comes in rolls, so you could tape several long pieces together. Some brands do offer large sheets. Alternatively, just keep moving your A4 piece to a new section as you work.

If your drawing is on drawing paper, so you may not be able to see the shading from the front of the paper. To make sure you’ve shaded behind every line, hold the drawing up to a window or lay it on a light box. Do any additional shading that might be necessary. I don’t remember that Saral was particularly easy to erase or particularly difficult to erase. I recall no smudging or other problems, either. Overall, it’s a good product and easy to use. No, you cannot print onto graphite paper. Graphite paper is not designed to be fed through a printer. Is graphite paper the same as transfer paper? You can even make your own graphite transfer paper by drawing all over paper with a pencil or progresso. It’s slow, but quite effective. Carbon transfer paper is used to make copies of documents. It’s not typically used for transferring images. What can I use instead of carbon transfer paper? My absolute favorite method of transferring drawings is a light box. In my case, that’s one of two or three large windows. Kathryn has already tried a form of this. But she used charcoal rather than graphite, and that will produce a messier line.Other papers, like Bristol and drafting film, are more difficult to leave marks on, so you get very few accidental marks. Likewise, don't allow dust to settle on your canvas, because if you try to wipe or brush off the dust, you'll smudge the graphite tracing. Big mess! Gently tape the transfer paper to the canvas. Make sure that the "messy" side of the transfer paper is facing down, towards your canvas, and the "clean" side is facing up. Use an archival artist tape to tape the graphite paper to the canvas. Artist tape is ideal because it is acid-free and removes easily without leaving behind any residue.

That means that you have less likelihood of getting really dark transfer lines or smudges on some papers than others. So I’d experiment a little bit with different drawing papers to see what results you get. Drawing Pressure

Graphite paper can be smudgy, so wash your hands immediately after removing the paper from your canvas. You don't want extra smudgy fingerprints on your canvas (or clothes or anything else for that matter!).
