Whilst the setting and story of Crystal remains largely the same as in Gold and Silver, several encounters and additional characters were introduced to the game to provide greater content to the game's narrative. It suggests that the Unown were left behind by the ancient civilization that constructed the Ruins of Alph, and that the statues that line the interior were made by those people.
