I liked the idea of these female characters feeling empowered with their war work, but this empowerment is undermined by their attention to gossip. There, she reconnects with long lost family - but will she be able to uncover the truth that tore them apart all those years ago? However, if you want a sentimental read full of nostalgia and endearing characters, who are ever optimistic despite adversity, and females who are determined to succeed in a male dominated world, this is definitely the read for you.

Some friendly and some not so, the book covers domestic violence, and jealously. A lovely, easily read and meaningful tale written by one of my favourite authors, can't wait for the next book! And this one certainly filled this criteria and was a really good read. Such a good read that as I read before bed I had some very late nights.When she got older, she decided that she wanted to join a writing group. She joined a writing circle and it helped not only inspire and focus her but got her started on writing short stories and articles and working on her writing. She started writing novels in 1971, but only because there was a strike that got rid of her main income and this was the catalyst for her to turn to fiction. Having said that, once I had reset my brain to understand this was more of a sentimental piece focusing on love and friendship, I began to enjoy myself. Flynn looks at the joys of leaving home to discover yourself, and the relinquishment of the protection and comfort of a family bubble.
