The Rival blasters target the 14+ market and since I am over 6′ tall, I find they fit me better than most N-Strike Elite blasters, but the grips also seem to be fine for kids down to about 11 years old. It holds either 6 D batteries, or one of Nerf's new Rival rechargable battery packs (sold separately), which make the whole beast of a blaster go. So if your blaster jams you have to pop the hopper off, and then you can get your finger in there to clear any jams. As for the muzzle velocity, I tested the Nemesis with both D batteries and the rechargeable power pack from NERF. That adds to the heft of this already heavy blaster and the Rechargeable will both save you a ton of cash and lower that weight a bit.

I did find that if you were stationary for too long, the Nemesis didn’t load up properly and you had to shake the balls down to the conveyor. Another neat feature of this hopper system is that if you forget to close the little entry door at the top of the hopper, the blaster won’t rev, and you won’t be able to shoot.

The battery pack is stronger and lasts much longer than the D cell batteries, not to mention much cheaper in the long run. The Nemesis has a fully automatic firing system and a firing capacity of 100 High-Impact Rounds that are loaded via a purpose-built hopper system. As mentioned above, this blaster can also hold the Nerf Rival rechargeable battery pack, which is handy if you’re tired of spending your coin on batteries.The only downside is that you can empty the chamber is around 30 secs and you will lose balls all over the place.

There is also an ambidextrous safety catch that stops it revving, so check both of these if nothing happens. I've fought against battery powered Nerf toys for a while now since I've always felt the important part of using Nerf blasters was that anyone can power the toy with a simple motion of pulling back a lever or whatever device primes the ammo and pulling the trigger.
