i finished this book like a week ago and genuinely don't remember enough about it to review it so i must have started skim reading at the 75% mark.

The third newbie is on her knees in front of the male, sucking his length like poison from a snake bite. this is meant to introduce you to characters and develop a connection with them, as well as familiarise the reader with the world, the different kingdoms, and give a hint of fae magic. He turned her gold - for reasons unknown - and keeps her caged up in his golden palace to apparently just watch him indulge himself in carnal exploits.They’re marching to battle, and I’m the bargaining chip that will either douse the fire or spark a war. Book 3 of this adult fantasy series continues in this epic story inspired by the myth of King Midas, fae, fated romance, and insurmountable greed. It got me completely hooked for days to read this and I'd be lying if I say I didn't devour this shit in whole. I did not even check how many pages I have left and I was surprised when I found that I am more than halfway through the story, I was THAT engrossed.

They reject each other, they hurry in opposite directions, pulling the binding taut between them, threatening to snap. I’ve learned my lesson with trusting manipulative kings, so why does my chest constrict every time he’s near? There were aspects of this book that I really enjoyed, but there was a lot that felt predictable or inconsequential. the fact that the appearance of a male character that actually respects women was so EXCITING gives you an idea of what it’s like. Honestly, I know no shit about this book but I knew that this is very recommended and the way I dived into this head-first even without reading the synopsis was just unbelievable.The magic in this book is mysterious and timid in the number of appearances, but it still give us a rather immense impression in its power and quality. it’s well written with some fantastic world-building it's the first thing I’ve read by this author but certainly won’t be the last and i definitely recommend reading it. After living amongst the terrifying army of Fourth Kingdom, I find myself, once again, in strange lands and a kingdom surrounded by liars. You know a book is not to a great start when it starts with an orgy between King Midas and several women and a man, while Auren (h) is forced to watch them.

The flow was okay, though I think it's a bit packed and slow but it didn't bother me that much and I still found myself enjoying this. She lives alone and locked up, but she's grateful to him because Midas saved her and kept her safe for years. Reading a story from the point of view of a woman who has only been gaslit, used, and abused for most of her life, and is unable to understand the horrific situation she's in is fundamental to all readers, both men and women. In fact, I'm just going to refer to King Midas as Goldmember because I'm pretty sure only oversight kept him from making his dick a twenty-four karat dildo.Rissa, Auren's only sort-of friend is the only one I like a little, although the vibes are a little off. I hereby predict that in the following books, Commander Rip will end up being 'King Rot;' The aforementioned 'rot' will be a deterrent to other kingdoms, and not a way of life in the Fourth Kingdom; Auren will fall in love with the Fourth Kingdom's King. This book has been on my TBR list for quite some time now, and with all the hype about gold coming out I thought I should really read this series.
