Anyone who had nuns in big metal jumpsuits on their Christmas bingo card is going to be rubbing their hands with glee at the Sanctorum Guard battleforce, which contains 23 saintly miniatures. Morven Vahl spearheads a cohort of six Paragon Warsuits, while a complement of Celestian Sacresants and a Battle Sister squad give you more zealots than you can shake a brazier at. Battleforce: Adeptus Custodes – Watchers of The Gate Bury your foes in a relentless tide of claws with the Onslaught Swarm, one of the most terrifying assemblages of Tyranid monstrosities ever stuffed into a box. A massive Norn Emissary joins up with a Winged Hive Tyrant – which can also be built as a ground bound Hive Tyrant or Swarmlord – to lead a tide of 20 leaping, scything Hormagaunts and 10 ravening Genestealers, with a pair of Ripper Swarms to boot.

Also, the new Wrath & Glory box seems to also be a potential winner for hobby dollars, but the release date is currently unknown. Depending on your budget Skorpekh are going to be easier to come into, but Wraiths are a great kit and a strong independent unit so we’ll leave it to your personal preference. Lychguard are also no slouches in combat, though they are slower, so if you want a good midfield threat that can shield your characters that’s not a bad option. Once you have a few large melee threats established you’re going to want to fill out your list with some sturdy troops and fast objective-grabbers/harassers, which Warriors and Scarab Swarms fill quite nicely. A lot of players also really enjoy bringing along a C’tan Shard of the Nightbringer, who is a HUGE threat to anything nearby and provides solid offense and/or distraction (note it does not benefit from the Dynasty traits). The jury is out on the value of these as we haven’t seen the prices yet, but anything in the ballpark of last year makes these sets a steal. Whenever Space Marines go to war, they strike hard and fast, and the Shieldbreaker Strike Force is set up to do just that.
