The Core has an altitude log. While this doesn't seem like a big deal, once people get an altimeter watch this is one of their most-used features. For up to seven days the Core will log your total ascent, descent and number of runs. For skiers, it logs how many laps you take while for hikers and climbers on trails that go up and down it will tell you your true vertical height gained. The Vector has a 24-hour log and will also store up to 100 logs. The Pathfinder models can only hold up to 40 logs. Since none of the buttons on the Core are labeled, it took a bit of time to get used to how it all functioned. However, after a few days of practice, it became more or less second nature. If you’re not used to wearing an outdoor watch, you’ll probably find that putting on the Suunto Core for the first time feels a bit weird. With a case size diameter of 1.93 inches (49.1mm), the Suunto is more or less the same size (give or take a few millimeters) of every other outdoor watch. For comparison, the Garmin Fenix 6 has a case size of 1.8 inches (47mm) while the Suunto 9 Baro has a case size of 2.03 inches (51.6mm).On the sides of the case, you can also find five textured push buttons, which are used to navigate the functions of the Suunto Core. These push-buttons are small and not too long, so they will not dig uncomfortably into the skin of your wrist when you are wearing the Suunto Core. This function also has a log and on the display, you will be able to view the general pressure trends as well as a summary graph of the last 24 hours. This outdoor watch tells you when a blast is coming with the storm alarm, with this you can make the most accurate decision on your way. In addition, you have an altimeter, barometer, thermometer, digital compass and barometric trend indicator. The pressure sensor works in four modes. The Suunto Core has an automatic alti-baro mode that detects movements or absence of movements, and changes accordingly. The Suunto Core has a clean and straightforward digital display, with a dark aesthetic that can go well with any style or outfit. Its interface is very user-friendly, with a large screen that bears pronounced letters and numerals for better legibility. Its different modes and functions are also all clearly labelled, which makes it easier to navigate this watch. One weakness of the Suunto Core, however, is that the layer of mineral glass used to protect the digital dial is quite reflective. As a result, when the watch is exposed to high-intensity light, this can cause light glares that distort the watch face and make it harder to read.

The Core’s buttons are also waterproof, so if you’re swimming or showering and accidentally press a button, the watch will be just fine. Daily functions include dual time, date, alarm, sports chronograph and predicted times for sunrise and sunset
