Cetatea Oradea a fost amenajat un lapidariu la subsol, cu spații expoziționale, spații de depozitare, spații de cercetare, laboratoare, spații administrative, cafenea, spațiu comercial, garderobă, spații pentru secretariat și informații, sală de lectură, bibliotecă virtuală, grupuri sanitare și punct termic, însumând 5.909,60 metri pătrați restaurați și refuncționalizați. Pavilon nazvaný Lapidárium na pražském Výstavišti postavil jako sezonní provizorium pražský architekt Antonín Wiehl pro Zemskou jubilejní výstavu 1891. Stavitelem novorenesanční budovy byl stavitel Quido Bělský. Ztehdejších exponátů zde zůstaly jen ty nejstarší - hliněné dlaždice zVyšehradu. Základ dnešního Lapidária byl shromážděn roku 1898 při významné Výstavě architektury ainženýrství. Pro tuto výstavu byl vbarokizujícím secesním stylu pavilon dostavěn apřestavěn architektem Antonínem Hrubým. Kexponátům této výstavy přibývaly další, zejména zdomů zbořených za asanace staré Prahy na přelomu století. Tak byla vroce 1905 otevřena pro veřejnost stálá expozice Lapidária. Zasloužil se oto především Jan Koula aVáclav Fabián. This book is more people-centric than stone centric. Each essay isn't actually about a stone, it's a niche tale about people with a connection to the stone in question, and it's the people that the essay focuses on.
