We posed this question through the Tooltalk App (see all the answers in the app available for iOS or Android AOS). The 2600K includes 15mm and 22mm aluminium guides. These guides are available as spares;15mm 2601N and 22mm 2603T. These guides also fit Irwin® and Hilmor® GLM. Bending copper pipe can be done properly in two ways, ether a tool called a bending spring is used or a more substantial tool called a proprietary plumbers copper pipe bender is used. The handles (2) are opened wide which allows the hook (1) and the stay (3) to be in a straight line.

The formers are sized at different pipes sizes and are about 150mm long. Now, as you close the handle, the former pushes the pipe round the wheel former giving you a perfect, kink free bend.

We have included bending angles of 30 45 60 and 90 degrees on the XV and XVL 15mm versions and an additional 75 degree angle on the 22mm version; these are easily visible on the Former of each bender. The standard finish of the benders is a bright zinc plate on the Arms with rumbled aluminium Former and Lever castings. We will also be making available special editions with different finishes to the castings. Some of the Monument Masters have received laser etched and polished castings which look fantastic! Differences compared to a combi bender You will not see many plumbers using springs however as it is very hard to keep the bend neat and to the correct diameter.

As the water flows down the "straight" all of a sudden it encounters a tight, right angled bend. Because the bend is so tight the water simply hits the side of the fitting before going round the corner.
