As far as Razer products go ManO’War is considered an elite product among them in the gaming world. It not only has its uses while gaming but it is also used by a lot of sound experts in the music industry due to its clarity in the sound. The ManO’War 7.1 sound great. This tank of a headset sounds surprisingly roomy and gentle, allowing nuanced details to be well represented in the mix — whether that be gameplay sound effects, or the individual instruments of a song. Compared to the Prismatic Afterglow, which provides a tight mix and punchy high end, the ManO’War 7.1’s sound reads more relaxed. There’s quite a bit of space in the upper register that isn’t present in the bass, but overall things sound balanced and weighty without being overpowering. This wired version is compatible with just about everything — PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, mobile devices, or plugging directly into a monitor or speaker’s audio out — making it as versatile as it is high quality. You can use the ManO'War with a Mac, PC, or PlayStation 4, but not a Microsoft Xbox. In all three cases, you just need to plug the receiver into a free USB port and the headset will show up as a connected audio device. After connecting the receiver to a computer, you can then install Razer Synapse to access a variety of customization options, including the aforementioned lighting settings. You need to use the wireless receiver; there's no analog, wired connection option for the headset, like you get with the G933 or the Astro A50 . At times, it felt a bit ridiculous to wear something this large on my head, however I imagine some gamers will appreciate the massive, circular design used here. You may be able to tinker a bit more with this one on different Razer headsets The connection strength is by far my favorite feature on the headset, as no matter where I moved to in the room, the connection was perfect. I was even able to move to the room above my test PC and have a connection (albeit unstable), which is something the Corsair Void Wireless couldn’t achieve. The 7.1 audio also makes a big difference here, and really opens up the soundstage. The Battlefield 1 beta felt punchy, with plenty of bass present in explosions and gunfire – the balance of the headset makes gaming a joy. Note that because of the software requirement, the 7.1 audio is for PC only. I’m impressed with the Man O’ War’s sound, too. It’s not the best headset I’ve heard—not even in its division, as I think the similarly priced (and also wireless) Logitech G933 justedges it out. But you could do a lot worse.
