But what are the best value Boarding Patrols for the money? You can actually save quite a bit of money with some of these (assuming that these models are the models you want). I wasn’t too enthusiastic about the Space Marine Boarding Action because it basically seemed like you were buying Heavy Intercessors and Assault Intercessors, and got an HQ unit free. Good if you like it, but kinda bland. But the other boxes, which have been announced but are not yet available for sale, look like really great values. What are the Best Value Boarding Patrols?

Space Marine Saturday Pre-Orders – Arks of Omen and Space Marine

Classic Method - uses acrylic paints to build layers of colour and depth. Usually topped off with a shade paint to really make the shadows pop. Probably the most beginner friendly method as mistakes are often easy to fix. From our notes, most Boarding Action games are going to be around 500 points. And, according to GW’s own tips, you’re probably going to want some more bodies on the field or some other way to do consistent damage via mortal wounds. With only 110 points to play with we can do one or the other. Normally, I’d just drop in a Librarian and go. However, due to the Patrol Detachment limit, we can only have 1 HQ. It’s just a little interesting to see who will buy these because players will need to grab the Arks of Omen book as well to use them in that game. Plus, if you already play Space Marines, these are probably units you already have. This book contains everything you need going into the new competitive season, including secondary objectives for every faction and missions for Strike Force and Incursion size games. Iron Hands: March of Iron Strike ForceBattlefields in the grim darkness of the far future are shifting as Vashtorr the Arkifane and Abaddon unleash the calamitous Arks of Omen and set intricate plans in motion. The Brutalis Dreadnought is a powerful melee cousin of the Redemptor that can rip vehicles apart with shredding talons, or lay into foes with a pair of fists fitted with twin bolt rifles. The Desolation Squad can meanwhile arm themselves either with superfrag missiles for blasting infantry or superkrak missiles for busting tanks – with indirect-fire castellan launchers on the side.

3 New Arks of Omen Box Sets Revealed By GW - Spikey Bits

The only problem? Everyone else wants in on the action, and now the whole galaxy is boarding the Arks of Omen in search of glory, treasure, or just a big punch-up. In fact, four more Boarding Patrol boxes are preparing for launch in the near future – and only one of them might be said to have the Emperor’s best interests at heart… GW just revealed three new Arks of Omen box sets made specifically for playing boarding action games, but could also be used for regular 40k. For this force, I wanted an HQ inclusion – a boarding assault warrants an experienced leader. I opted for Infiltrators as Troops. They’ll handle sabotage and scouting work. A squad of Veteran Intercessors modelled with boardhing shields is there to give cover and start parties. The Sternguard exist to anchor the force with potent ranged firepower, and the Eradicators are for melting bulkheads and heavy opposition. I got good use out of the Heavy Support exemption for Space Marines which allows us to take a single Heavy Support choice if they’re Hellblasters or Eradicators. A well-rounded, ranged oriented fighting force is what my precious Iron Panthers are all about.

Is the Space Marines Boarding Patrol Box Worth it?

As we said, this has a bit of a random assortment of models, but the value is definitely there! This actually rivals some of the better boxes from Christmas, so if you need all the models inside, this is totally worth grabbing, as you basically get two boxes of Possessed for free! It also contains the new Daemon Prince, which is quite pricey to grab on its own, so that’s very nice.
