I think without the epilogue it would have been a fine story, but the epilogue provides an extra layer to the story. While different, the point of view actually brought me to tears once I realized that Karissa did this on purpose.

The attraction and the idea of two soul mates finding each other is really what drives the book to be such a success in conveying feelings to the reader. Along with her partner Logan, she roams the safely discovered planets and moons of a newly traversable galaxy by inter-galactic transport, centuries after the evacuation of humans from Earth to a new home, Otera. Silas looks back and forth between Logan and I, finding my eyes, and I shrug at him like I don’t know the right answer.Silas has a sudden inclination to punch him, to crack the bones in his nose for talking about me like that, for talking about his girl like that—and half a mind to leave him at the bar and go to me right then, finding me alone. Food and drink, efflorescence, incense, oils, natural medicines, the fruits of the land that were recycled into every edge of society. The scenes never felt out of place or repetitive, which is impressive give how many spicy scenes there are in the book.

Finally, the plot of this book was entirely underwhelming and I found that the smut scenes became very repetitive and were not super creative.He planned to catch a ride on the freighter ship back to the Otera and trade his way to riches—sticking around just long enough to make his peace with the mainland, and then become a ghost. Along the way, they’ll unlock wisdom for those of us navigating our own coupledoms, and for those still seeking their perfect match. Karissa Kinword provides a poetic glimpse into this very fantasy we treasure in the dark, hopeful moments of the night and set in between the very stars themselves.

With that being said, do be warned that the book relies more on the romance than any world building or plot. I imagine the brush of his mustache against her upper lip and lift my hand to ghost over my mouth in the same place. There are silver earrings dangling like chandeliers from her ears that sparkle along the curve of her jaw, and she wears a black button up top that’s tight across her chest. Imagine having three life-coaches who had been through the toughest mental and physical challenges; a crack team of problem-solvers who knew in their day job that one mistake could be the difference between life - and death.

This also fed into the overall tension the characters (and by extension, reader) experience throughout the novel. Since I can’t stop gushing about it in this caption, I’ll put the synopsis and more details on the following slides.

My only qualm is the ending, it definitely threw me for a loop, but even still I can’t wait to get my hands on the paperback once it’s available on June 7th! The first-person omniscient POV can be jarring at first, but once you read for a while, you'll get used to it. I thought there was sort of a friendship between Silas and Logan so it just made me feel bad and then mixed with the first person omniscient it made me feel even more gross.
