The plot was well constructed, the reader was as much in the dark about what had really caused the break up as Harriet was and that felt very true to life. this story explores heavy topics, it’s filled with love and loss, grief, hurt, trauma, change, happiness and unhappiness + friendships and family; this book was more melancholy, thoughtful and deep—this is ultimately why i loved it sm! Love love love the book, how it seamlessly moves between real place and happy place, past and present merged into one yet distinct to make a beautiful picture.

The writing was stunning, and I obviously cared about the story bc this review is a mile long (sorry about that) Will I ever read it again?

whenever we got a glimpse into how wyn felt about harry, it almost always felt very generic and there wasn’t anything that special or swoon worthy about it. You're not only dumb (he failed gen ed math, whatever that means) but you also collect other people's trash? The cottage is for sale so this is the last time they'll all be together here and they can't bear to break their friends' hearts.

Harriet hasn't told them her and her fiance Wyn have broken up, so when she arrives to find Wyn there, acting like nothing has happened, it throws her for a minute. i was hoping the friendships would feel more real, but something about them didn’t hit the way they were meant to. We have alternating chapters with present day and in the past when the two get together and and their relationship is at that full intensity stage.It’s a door in your heart, and once you know it’s there, you’ll spend your life longing for whatever’s behind it. Happy Place is very similar to People We Meet on Vacation with the flashbacks and failed relationship that all hinged on a “mysterious” fight.

it will always feel like a warm hug from someone you know and haven’t seen in a while and i’m never not going to love it. Harriet goes off on her summer vacation to meet up with her best friends for a week at their 'happy place'. i could feel both their heartbreak on my tongue and no matter what harriet did, she felt him slipping away and that was the most painful thing to ever read about.Only this year, Harriet and Wyn are lying through their teeth while trying not to notice how desperately they still want each other.
