Other marines are going to be a big challenge for Death Guard, particularly Salamanders, who can now prevent plague weapons from re-rolling 1s to wound. Sisters are also going to be a challenge, particularly if they’re also using the same rule, and both Thousand Sons and Grey Knights are going to give Death Guard fits, particularly lists that can’t take the Abhor the Witch secondary objective. Finally new Tyranids are also going to be an uphill battle for the faction. Essentially any faction that can still throw out a lot of mortal wounds is going to be a problem for the new Terminator-heavy meta. The changes with Arks are a mixed bag for Death Guard, who benefit from point drops but lose some durability from the loss of Armour of Contempt. Though as we’ll see, some units are affected more than others by the change. What Changed This is amazing when used on your Foul Blightspawns to make their plague sprayer deadly from even further away. Plague Companies The Myphitic Blight-hauler is well armoured in rusting plates, and its blubbery flesh-parts can soak up appalling trauma. It possesses a further defence mechanism in the form of the keratinous spouts that protrude from its armoured body. As it devours the filth and corpse-matter carpeting the battlefield, the machine churns the accumulated foulness within its foetid innards. Rank gasses and miasmal fumes build within the Daemon Engine's gastric boilers until, with a wet rasp, it spews them forth in billowing clouds.

It is expensive but taking a unit of three would up your damage output quite a bit and help out in the killpoint department as well. Suddenly these guys moving up with a lord of a prince are hitting on 3+ with reroll 1’s. Solid. Generally speaking, this one’s a double-edged sword; Death Guard are still going to be among the game’s most durable armies, but they’re going to feel a quite a bit more fragile. Death Guard Terminators have a 4+ invulnerable save and while that was still useful in the AoC meta, it’s much moreso in the post-AoC meta, where AP-3 and AP-4 weapons will continue to lose that effectiveness against them in the open. Whether racing along as escorts to armoured spearheads, or prowling through burning cityscapes in support of advancing Plague Marines, Myphitic Blight-haulers encircle the foe, strike at their most vulnerable points, then close in to consume the mangled corpses that are left in destruction's wake.So right off the bat the flavour text gives us a fairly accurate description of what the unit is good at: mid range tank hunting. The blight-hauler very often will also serve as support units on the tabletop due to their amazing putrescent fog ability (more on that later). Unlike the other Death Guard daemon engines such as the Foetid Bloat-drone and the Plagueburst Crawler these little guys may be fielded in squads of 1-3, gaining bonuses while the squad is at 3 models. Unlike many other vehicle squads they however do not get to split up once the game starts, meaning you do have to keep them in coherency at all times. You can use Plague marines as a bait unit. Most units capable of destroying plague marines cost more than they do in either points or opportunity cost.
