Both of these shoes run true to size in length, but the Reebok Legacy Lifter 3’s may run slightly big for neutral or narrow-footed lifters. While I wear in 10 in both, I can get a tighter fit in the Adipower 3’s. I suggest a half-size down for most people in the Legacy Lifters (relative to training shoes) unless you have a wider foot. In that case, I think you’ll be quite pleased with the fit going true to size. Since this model has a higher price point, I think it’s important to ensure that this model’s performance aligns well with your training needs before investing. On the downside, the toe box is rather narrow. This has been true throughout the Adipower line and something I’ve been hoping Adidas would adjust in future releases. While they aren’t the most restrictive shoes I’ve used, you can’t spread your toes as much as some others.

When you lay your feet inside the Romaleos 4, you should feel the midsole cradling your feet from both sides. As it approaches the outsole, the TPU narrows down into a polygonal shape. If you upend the shoes, you’ll see that transparent shape right underneath the heel. There seem to be no issues with durability in this department and the length of the strap is just right so it’s comfortable to tie without dragging on the floor when pulled to the tightest. Powerlift 4 Even though the strap itself is thinner on the Power Perfect III, its higher placement adds more stability around the ankle and helps the foot feel more secure. Midsole Construction and WeightThe Adipower 2 features a TPU midsole, which excels in terms of rigidity. This material is hands-down the gold standard of weightlifting shoes because it doesn’t compress under the heaviest weights. The Nike Romaleos 4 are another popular weightlifting shoe with time-tested performance on the platform. They’re slightly less expensive than the Adipowers and carry some impressive specs. The Adipower 3 has a similar fit and last construction as prior models, so for my diehard Adipower fans, this shoe will work fine for you, especially if you love the Adipower models for weightlifting. But do they follow in the footsteps (pun intended) of their predecessors in being one of the best weightlifting shoes out there? Not quite. They do provide more stability for heavy lifts than the Reebok Nanos or Nike Metcons, but not quite as much as the Nike Romaleos 4. And the bottom is flexible enough for CrossFit workouts, but I noticed doing a lot of functional fitness moves in them caused some additional wear and tear. I do think there are certain lifters who can benefit from this shoe, but there are better shoes on the market for competitive powerlifters and weightlifters. Pros

Similar to the previous Adipower, the 2 has a TPU heel, but it’s constructed slightly different. As opposed to utilizing the visible pillars, the Adipower 2 has a flatter outer construction is made with a texture that feels similar to knurling. Adidas Adipower 2 Construction Weight Shoe Model The 22mm effective heel height is at the high end of the range, which I prefer for positioning and overall performance. OutsoleAnother interesting feature of the Romaleos is that they have a wider outsole with sharper edges to prevent the foot from rolling inward or outward. While I like this feature for stability, it takes some getting used to compared to the rounder edges of other weightlifting shoes. Like the Adipower II’s, the Power Perfect III’s have a heel cup for added stability. The heel cup feels more rigid on the Power Perfects, although this could also be due to having sturdier material on the exterior of the shoe. Throughout my training experience, I’ve always thought that this height is the ideal middle ground since you can get heel heights between 0.6-1-inches. It’s not too high for beginners, yet it’s high enough for a flawless professional performance.

Takeaway Thoughts

In the Adipower 2, Adidas chose a much simpler approach. They went for a basic, solid construction that looks somewhat similar to the Nordic Powerlifting Shoes. One of my favorite features of these shoes is the finger loop above the heel. This makes it very easy to put the shoes on, and it’s surprisingly rare among other shoes in this class.
