This protein shaker is split in half (15 ounces on either side), allowing you to store two completely different liquids in two completely separate compartments. It’s a unique design that adds some extra versatility to your gym bag. Inside Shaker communities, simplicity and hard work reigned. Labor and craftsmanship were seen as ways to worship God, and Shakers became known for producing high-quality furniture, food and household goods. This version is made by Italian kitchenware experts Alessi (and designed by esteemed architect Ettore Sottsass) whose products are always stylish; this shaker is no different. As glass tends to be heavy, it has a weighty, sturdy feel to it. Though it looks like a pint glass, Boston shakers tend to be made with tempered glass, providing a bit more strength (as you might imagine, accidents are common in mixology, and glass can break). There are three main types of shakers: Boston, Parisian and cobbler (or three piece). Capilungo points to the fact that the strainer doesn't seal perfectly into the tin. "When you shake it, it could easily open. If there's too much ice, or too much liquid, it can easily come off." Best steer clear of it, says the professional. If you plan to consume a protein shake before exercise, it could help fuel workouts and aid protein synthesis. In this case, consume 60-90 minutes before exercise.Either way, taking protein and carbs after a long effort has been found to promote recovery and help muscles rebuild. Most protein shakers hold between 16 and 36 ounces of liquid, leaving enough extra space inside to dissolve that workout mix or protein powder with whatever bartending flair you have on hand.
