This was bought for me as a present after I’d pretty much sworn off whiskey but in a very pleasant surprise it went down really nicely. The bottle shape and tin cup cap are meant to be useful for carrying and drinking a bottle as you’re enjoying the fresh air of the Rocky Mountains.

Two friends and their wives teamed up to produce a bourbon that they would name after one couples daughter that was yet to be born. Colorado isn’t particularly known for their distilling prowess — brewing, yes; distilling… not so much. There are stages inside and out, and eventually, entertainment will be added, but thattoo will have to wait until the crowds ease up. The name comes from gold miners in Colorado, who used to drink their whiskey from a tin cup - as such, the lid of Tincup American Whiskey can be used as a drinking vessel. Having those experienced, familiar people working — especially general manager Joel Robberts and front-of-house and bar manager Emilia Posanti—has kept things running smoothly.The pair started talking whiskey and instantly formed a friendship; six years later, in 2004, they drew upon George’s experience with the alcohol industry (he was the owner of Flying Dog Brewery) and opened a distillery — the first legal distillery in the state of Colorado since prohibition. After that you have glass engravings of the Tincup name, mining symbols, and a statement that says it’s cut from the whiskey is cut with water from the Rocky Mountains. Once the whiskey arrives at the Stranahan’s facility in Colorado, the crew adds a bit of Rocky Mountain water to cut down the alcohol content, and also adds a touch of Stranahan’s whiskey for flavor. Originally, Jess and George Stranahan had founded Stranahan’s Whiskey in 2004 out of Denver, Colorado. What’s even cooler is the bottle design itself: an almost Victorian style, with a hexagonal shape and the branding embossed onto the sides of the glass bottle itself. Now, I understand Colorado isn’t exactly known for it’s distilling, but a very large portion of it is sourced from the Midwest. So, today we’re bringing another MGP rye review to the table with Templeton Rye Whiskey aged 4 years. Tincup, Colorado was small mining town in central Colorado, located on the west side of the Rocky Mountains.
