Then it was a simple case to apply the wash to all the stonework on the ruins and let it dry, as always keeping an eye out for any pooling. He is known for bold colour schemes and sharp edge highlights, which he paints with typical German perfectionism (one of the reason he is such a notoriously slow painter).

When I first started way back in the day (circa 2002) the idea that the sculpt itself would have wood grain would have been unthinkable. Thankfully I hadn’t gotten very far with the Wraithbone; I had completed a test piece and put the first layer on a couple of other bits of ruins.

It explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control them.As far as subassemblies went I left as much of the woodwork separate as I could and left the ruins themselves in single stories for ease of painting. All photographs, images and paint-work that are posted are originals by the author unless indicated otherwise. The brickwork is a bit flat for our tastes but there is enough detail around it to make it look realistic. Finally, I picked out the twin-tailed comets and lettering with Scale 75 Metal ‘n’ Alchemy Dwarven Gold. Then to really bring out the wood grain, I drybrushed all the wooden parts across the grain with Zandri Dust.

I chose a basic dark grey stone colour for my ruins, with some details picked out in brass, rusty metal, and a jade green that matches the pale green tiles of the Warcry game board.This kit is on his paint bench to provide you the full breakdown of what you can expect to find inside. In hindsight I probably should have used Pale Sand as the rocks would no doubt be part of the broken pillar. In any case, my plan to use Wraithbone came to a screeching halt however when my little pot of it ran out.
