The multiple POVs and jump back and forth in time are done so well, and add great intricacy and depth to the story. I agree to some extent in that my favourite part was Amber’s story, but I still think both timelines contributed nicely, and if you like suspense, this is a great technique to keep you guessing and turning the page, whilst simultaneously throwing you clues. There is an interesting story at its core and this is what kept me reading, wondering how things would all pan out. I blame this fucking pandemic for the fact I cared I was wept my stupid heart out for this dead fictional child who probably felt responsible for his mother’s death and couldn’t even have a rabbit. Set in Cornwall, Black Rabbit Hall follows what happens to the Alton family in the space of just under 2 years. BLACK RABBIT HALL had marvelous characters that were loving and endearing and of course there was a villain who ruined it all. At first, the connection between the two stories – separated by several decades and connected only by this ramshackle old mansion – is unclear. As the sisters are lured into the mystery of their missing cousin, the stifling summer takes a shocking, deadly turn. There is one big twist in the story which you could see coming from a mile away, but I don't think it takes anything away from the reader.It was published in early 2016, yet I hadn't heard of it until very recently - special thanks to my GR friend Frances. And I felt so fucking manipulated by this whole thing because … like … we’re told Barney is dying of gothic well before he gets the Rabbit of Psychological Improvement and AHHHH. Ghosts are everywhere, not just the ghost of Momma in the woods, but ghosts of us too, what we used to be like in those long summers .

Rich and detailed in scenery this story literally pulled me inside it’s pages making it unputdownable. An entertaining with lyrical writing and a character driven book, it will keep the reader engrossed throughout the pages. Lorna and Amber are two very different women at very different places in their lives, but both are forever changed by events that occur at Black Rabbit Hall. I was instantly hooked and couldn't wait out to find out more about what really happened in the 60s that could destroy a family so. She is a young girl that is desperately trying to keep her family together, but at the same time, she is on the verge of womanhood and sometimes actions can have dire consequences.

Oh, and she almost broke up her engagement over this strange haze that comes over her, on the first day of her visit.

It is 1968 and Nancy Alton is the perfect mother to her four children; she is kind, beautiful, smart and athletic. Within the secrets of it’s halls two women’s lives in different time periods cross bringing (main character) Lorna the answers she’s needed but never received from her adopted mother. Much too soon for Amber's taste, this icy woman, Caroline Shawcross, and her dark son, Lucian, have ensconced themselves into their lives, with devastating effects. I didn't go into this thinking it was going to be a great work of literature, but even so, I just couldn't take it seriously at all, and the daft way the characters were portrayed made them annoying to me. Eve Chase drew such a vivid description of the property that I could actually feel myself within the rooms, in the forest, on the beach, etc.Soon enough, the house begins to weave a spell over Lorna, nudging her to notice relics that seem to point to her own past.
