Behind the (strange) name, two senior engineer: Danny To, ex engineer for Panasonic and sales director of a multinational technology company, and Jeff Wong, ex-head of Dah Chong Hong Group and Department director of ZhongSheng Group. Big heads, frustrated not to get their ideal sound, who decided to open up a company and create their own products – you know the drill. In the area of technicalities, the S12 Pro have above-average imaging, instrument separation, and layering. Micro-details are decent enough but not class-leading. The soundstage is unfortunately bang average and sounds in-your-head. We are in for some surprises. The S12 killed my beloved Final E5000 with my Questyle QP1R reference dap in these aspects: staging, transparency, really good transients, and upper extension. I hope I just had a bad morning when testing these two. The Final has a narrower stage lesser upper extension, less clarity…but more bass quantity. The LetShuoer S12 comes with a decent detachable cable that is made of 128 stands of Silver Plated Monocrystalline Copper wire.

Like most of their planar brethren, the S12 Pro do have a somewhat unnatural timbre for acoustic instruments (especially when compared to single DD transducers). This may be a consequence of the planar drivers’ very fast transients and rapid decay. Note weight is on the thinner side. Comparisons Well, I’m sure I need not emphasize that the S12 Pro utilize a custom 14.8mm planar magnetic driver.While there are no protruding or awkward edges, the S12 Pro’s nozzles are pretty short. Thus, those with bigger ears may encounter the shell pressing on the concha, leading to slight discomfort, especially when it comes to longer listening sessions. YMMV. Internals

On the top of each monitor shell is a 0.78mm diameter 2-Pin female connector interface that offers a tight connection with the 2-Pin male connectors, located on the detachable cable. Near the connectors is a second vent hole that is part of the pressure balance system of the S12. Overall Impressions: As you can probably tell from the frequency breakdown, the S12 is actually quite similar to the 7Hz Timeless. It offers a bit more warmth in the low and and brightness in the treble, while the mids are probably the closest between the three registers. For my personal taste, however, I find that the S12’s frequency tweaks and improved resolution tip it over the top and make it a more enjoyable listen overall. The LetShuoer S12 came inside a rectangular cardboard box that sports the illustration and some product related brandings on its surface. The lower midrange of the LetShuoer S12 shows a good sense of depth and body, which is an advantage for male voices. Male vocals such like Dave Gahan, Sting or Elton John do sound pretty intimate and emotional, while the level of clarity is decent. Instruments like violas, acoustic guitars or bassoons are reproduced in a pretty clean and detailed manner. The monitor is available in two different colour options, which are Nebula Grey and Frosted Silver same like my review unit.In the box are the earpieces, a silver-plated monocrystalline copper cable, 2 sets of LETSHUOER’s standard eartips (S/M/L), a container with foams, a much too small carrying case, and the usual paperwork. LETSHUOER has hit the nail on the head with the S12. If you enjoy a bit more bass rumble and detail in your music, these will probably be a better buy for you than the 7Hz Timeless. Sensitive listeners may find it a bit too bright, but I found it to be a well balanced set for music, movies, and even gaming (with Dolby Atmos). At the current price, these earphones are a great value and a solid choice, especially if you’re curious what all the planar magnetic hype is about. The lower treble region is slightly less highlighted compared to the upper treble. Woodwind instruments such like a side flute or clarinet are fairly pronounced and clear, while pianos are shown with a pretty good grade of intensity. With a near reference tuning and a good suit of technicalities, the bass is one of the S12 PRO strongest points.

The treble range of the LetShuoer S12 shows an above average grade of brightness and is able to create a good sense of clarity and airiness, while the extension is in general on an adequate level. The transitions in this area are in general fairly fast and controlled, when instruments do play with high level of distortion, thanks to the well-adjusted 14.8mm dia. Planar Magnetic Driver. Sound performance on the S12 Pro is impreLETSHOUER saw the opportunity to let users choose between a single-ended 3.5mm connection or a 4.4mm balanced terminal. The possibility of a balanced pairing right out of the box should excite enthusiasts who carry DAPs and sources that push more power out of the balanced port to maximize the planar drivers of the S12.
