One of the most disruptive things about flash is, unsurprisingly, the flash. When you are working alongside cinema teams it can be a nuisance constantly seeing the strobing light in the footage. Above all, it does affect how hyperaware the subject is of being photographed that it reads in shots. For moments when there is action and both photo and video need to capture it, I prefer using a video light so we can work together to make sure we get the shots we need rather than recreating the moment (one with flash and one without). The modeling light on the AD100 Pro helped immensely for this and photograph static objects like invites, rings, and jewelry with the video team I was shooting this wedding with. The wireless radio TTL system is an automatic mode that uses Through The Lens (TTL) each time you fire the flash. The results depend upon your camera’s metering of the subject, which may create a different result with the metering control triggering power level of the flash. In my past Godox V1 review and Godox AD200 review, the biggest flaws or downsides of those products were the modeling lights. They seemed like afterthoughts, while this seemed intentional. They weren’t very color accurate, didn’t have the right amount of power output, and overall could have been made without the feature entirely. I find many photographers overestimate how much flash power they need. As I stated, the Godox AD200Pro can fire 500 full-power flashes before exhausting the battery.For studio photography, I used another simple lighting setup. The AD200Pro was in a 53″ softbox to the camera’s right. The modeling light was enough to focus on my subject. Misfires: I have had some issues with misfires, but nothing that would impact the timing of my shot or risk the potential of my images. The highest misfire rate I experienced was using HSS in broad daylight. The bare bulb head produces a soft light for wider area coverage, while the Speedlite produces a more directional light with defined shadows. There’s no way to mount the AD200Pro on your camera. It’s only available for use off-camera. That’s good, as off-camera lighting often provides the best portable flash experience. 2: 200Ws of power
