The Alnico pickups in HSS configuration give a nice, clear, and articulate sound, being the neck pickup less fat than a Fender Stratocaster one. The pickups get minimal 60 cycle hum when using high gain even on position 1 which was very shocking. This Donner comes with everything you need to start your "Journey" (faithfully), including an electronic tuner, amp , and much more. It’s small enough to sit on my desktop, barely bigger than a transistor radio, with output to match.

I'd love to hear about your experience with this project cause I'm in a very similar position you were in! Before the test, I did the usual setup for new guitars: neck relief (not necessary in this case), strings action, intonation, tremolo lubrication (oil), and nut lubrication (graphite).It’s very smooth to use, and even though it has 3 springs under the backplate, it was not overly tight. One of the highlights was the aux in feature, which allowed us to plug in a phone to play backing tracks through the amp. I used to play keyboards and an organ my father used to have when in the military during my summer visits.

The accessories included a mini practice amp, a set of picks with different stiffness, a second set of strings, a tuner, a strap, a couple of Alan wrenches, a cable, a gig bag and a capo. Unfinished/raw maple fingerboards are essentially raw wood and require an oil-based fingerboard cleaner for cleaning and conditioning. The sound was nice coming out of my Marshall amp, with a clean tone similar to my Epiphone strat and decent crunch with the gain cranked up. It does have a little bit of a buzz on the higher strings, but its a simple guitar to learn on and experiment with. It was nice and easy to use, and having USB recharging capability made it especially convenient, as the majority of amps of this size rely on batteries or sold-separately power cords.

There was a protective film on the guitar that was a bit annoying to remove with the knobs in place, but if you pop the knobs off, then it isn't too bad. The accessories to start off are basic, but really helps in getting started as soon as you receive the package. While this is no higher end guitar, it is a VERY NICE beginner/starter guitar and with the package it comes with, it's a solid win in my opinion.Need to set up, nut, tuning pegs and strings are made with very poor quality, I need to change them with new ones. If the note you play at the 12th is lower than the 12th harmonic, this means that the intonation is flat for that string.

I also have to mention that both contours, the one for your picking hand and one for your belly feel really nice.The string height is adjusted via the two mounting posts on each side, while intonation is adjusted via the individual screws at each bridge saddle.
