Shape & Size: Some smokers are flat in shape, while some are v-shaped. With flat boxes, not all grills can accommodate them well, while v-shaped boxes tend to be able to slot between your burner covers quite well.

Another comment is that this box should be iron instead of stainless steel. I disagree. Iron rusts.Close the lid of the grill and wait a few minutes for smoke to pour out of the grill. If you light a BBQ in advance and are adding your smoker box to a gas grill which has been allowed to heat up for the recommended 10-15 minutes then it should take another 10-15 minutes for the box to start smoking. Add wood chips to your smoker box.Using long-handled tongs, open the lid of the smoker box. Grab some of the soaked wood chips with the tongs, let the excess water drain off, and drop the wood chips into the smoker box. Place the meat or vegetables on the grate, close the lid and let the food cook. The closer your food is to the smoker box, the more smoky it’s going to taste. Last week CookOut News reported on a dual-burner assembly that Weber developed and now there’s another patent to improve gas grills. A patent has been released showing Weber has developed an L-shaped smoker box with an attached water pan to increase smoke times. Smoker BoxI have the Weber S-330. I put the smoker box over the right burner. I have all the other burners off and govern the heat by the one burner. Note: If you leave the right burner on high and all the other burners off your max temperature is around 350 degrees. That is in the summer time with around an outside temperature of 80 degrees. From there you can work the temperature down. ;-)

Some bbq utensils are dishwasher safe, but gentle washing up by hand will help to keep your bbq accessories looking their best for longer. You will have no smoke and then all of a sudden you have good smoke. It works great. I like the easy opening lid on the smoke box. It makes it easy to add wood chips to the box. Also I can move the smoker to anywhere on the grill. If I am not smoking i.e. when I have the hordes of family member over for a birthday etc, I take the unit off the grill and I have the full grill top. This unit is flexible. Setting up a gas grill for smoking can be very easy, especially if the grill is equipped with a built-in smoker box; however, there is a way to create smoke even without a built-in smoker box. As for poultry, you should cook it to the temperature of 160℉ in the breast, and 175℉ in the thigh before removing from the grill. While this is slightly lower than the minimum safe temperature, this allows an additional 5℉ to 10℉ of carryover cooking it will do while resting. The wood chips themselves can’t actually start burning, thus releasing their flavory goodness, until all the water has been evaporated out. That’s right, what you are seeing initially is steam, not smoke.
