If you find that you can close all of your grippers easily for 10 full reps then it is probably time for the next resistance level. If you cannot close your highest resistance gripper, its ok, try and close it as much as you can and take note (or even measure) of the gap you need to close. On the next session, you can measure the gap again and measure your progress by seeing how much you are able to decrease that gap. Partial reps are also a good tool as well. Closing a tough gripper for three 1/2 reps is still better than not trying to close it. You’re still working your grip after all. There are better options for improving strictly grip strength if that is all you’re focused on. These are more focused on forearm growth with grip strength as a secondary outcome.

Will The Grippers Hurt My Hands?

Before you max out on a gripper, you want to be sure you warm up your hands. You can use a warm up gripper, or try doing grip work after your workout, which is an easy solution. I find my grip is a good 10% stronger after a lifting session when my hands and body are nice and warm. Have had the #1 for a couple of weeks now, I gotta say although not as tough as a #2 gripper you still gotta respect it. I have had the #2 for nearly seven years now but I still havent closed it, I didnt really take my training seriously until recently so I got the #1 gripper to reach my goals of grip strength and to ensure I dont get injuries by doing negatives on a #2 gripper too regularly. I've found through experience that the number one way to develop flexor/pronator mass or, if you're not careful, biceps tendinitis and pain, is by using a high-strain grip in a full range of motion exercise. This usually involves using high resistance with a pinch or open-hand grip.Working Gripper – This is a gripper you can close around 5 to 10 times. This will help you build strength.
