Another key aspect of the Stormcast Eternals is their selection of mighty Heroes capable of inspiring nearby units with powerful buffing abilities – and they’re no slouches in combat either. Praise Sigmar! If you find that you are enjoying the Stormcast Eternals and want to expand on your glorious Holy Crusade in a more casual sense then here are some noteworthy units and characters I can recommend for you as you think about where to go next: The Lord-Imperatant is easily one of the most impressive amongst the new line of Stormcast Eternals figures. He’s covered with awesome details – including a shoulder-cape that appears to be a relative of his partially-canine companion. The Swampcalla Shaman and his pot-stirring compatriot are, perhaps, two of the most iconic and dynamic Figueres to be released in the AoS v. 3.0 range so far. I mean, look at them. So, you’ll be able to build either the figure on the top row or the one directly below them. This is great, as it means there’s lots of scope to personalise your new fighting force.

It contains some really good options to any Nurgle army despite mixing mortals with demons. Plaguebearers are a solid option both as summons and as battleline, Spoilpox Scrivener is always a valid hero and the Pusgoyles represent now the fastest Nurgle unit. The Praetors are a great inclusion for any Starter Set as they are really simple to build, but look awesome when completed.These are only scratching the surface of the ways you can build a Cities of Sigmar army. Mix, match, convert, counts-as, build, paint, and play your way to victory with what might be the most diverse faction in all of Age of Sigmar! This box is half of the original Starter Set for Age of Sigmar that pitted Khorne against the Stormcast Eternals. As all starter sets it’s good value for money, but it contains mono-pose units with no interchangeable weapons. Blood Warriors and Bloodreavers in particular have much better options in their stand-alone boxes that in this box set (or in the new Vanguard box). There’s a good number of 4+ save infantry units available, but none have more than one wound. This fragility extends to most heroes, going so far as to have rules specifically to mitigate how delicate your average Sorceress or Freeguild General is.

Compared with the old Start Collecting, the absence of a monster is greatly replaced by the Dragon Ogors and the Gors, but being a horde army, you will need plenty of these units. But not so many Great Bray-Shamans, so it’s up to you if the discount allows for duplicate heroes or not.

For Scions of the Storm you need to have one unit on the field for every unit you put into reserve. And the Lord Imperatant must be on the field for Guided by Lightning to work. The ideal set up then is to start with one unit of Vindicators, Praetors and the Lord Imperatant on the field. The Annihilators, Lord Castellan and other Vindicators are deployed in reserves.price wise this is on par with (as it’s clearly aimed to be) amongst other premium board games you can get your hands on right now.
