As much as it is hard to emulate a PC game on tabletop, A New Dawn collapses under the weight of its name. The game based its aesthetics on Civilization VI, hosts from 2 to 4 players and lasts a maximum of two hours, if not less. They found it very dry and most of the time we are a group of 5, so bringing this to the table was a challenge already.

Overall it’s a good game with nice mecanism but slightly too streamlined and desperatly needs one or 2 expansions.It has enough depth to make choices interesting, under no circumstances however does it deliver for those looking for an engaging, immersive 4X experience. This new game presents players with an undiscovered co In fact, A New Dawn is one of the worst case of failed expectations that I have experienced gamewise. In addition, there’s no way to customize a civilization’s diplomacy options, consisting only of four cards which often leave players disappointed.

Fans of the original may turn their noses up at this version, but I’d suggest they’re depriving themselves of a real treat: this game is fun, quick, and does a grand job of getting across that feeling of expanding your empire in a relatively short time frame. That was really great second game – completely different from the first, suspenseful and finished with a blast by Jakub (Poland)! Players organize their focus areas by constructing a focus bar at the beginning of the game, which is placed beneath each player’s leader card.

It might not be as easy as, say, the Catan game line, it has however a similar effect in that, while it takes a bit to explain, once you start playing things become obvious. Winning the game involves achieving one of the two victory conditions shown on each of the starting Victory Cards. Civilization: New Dawn has some inspired mechanics and offers a fresh and euro-like feel to the civ building genre. Cities fully surrounded by control tokens become “mature” and start to produce trade goods on a regular basis. There is a suggested layout for your first game outing, but after that you can create any custom map you desire for countless combinations and replay-ability.

This new 2017 Fantasy Flight and 2K Games collaboration is designed by James Kniffen and has been reworked with the introduction of a new player focus system. When it arrives, you get trade goods, and you get to take a diplomacy card (either from the city-state or from the player who’s city it belongs to) which grants you some useful bonus. There’s plenty of space to build all your cities, afford all your wonders, and put control tokens on the map. There is now a government space on the event dial and when it reaches that point, all players will establish a new government. Before last turn of the game (as it occurred) I had only 1 point and was far away in race for victory.With anyone familiar with other Fantasy Flight games, you should already know what you are getting with the box and insert. So you and the defender both roll a die, then you add to that number whatever space your military card is on.
